Fire Country Season 3 Episode 10 "The Leone Way" opens with Walter Leone making his way back to his sons and grandson. Soon after his arrival, Walter joins Bode at Sharon's bar and entertains Gabby and others with his fun stories about fishing trips.

Walter also recalls the time when he used to take his sons and grandson on fishing trips and make countless memories. However, his intention of returning was to attend Bode's graduation, which was about a week ago.

While Vince doesn't pay much attention to his father's confusion, Sharon is deeply concerned about her father-in-law as it doesn't seem to be just forgetfulness. She suspects cognitive issues, possibly the early signs of dementia, and suggests Walter be tested immediately.

However, Vince brought up his father's history of alcoholism, assuming that he probably drank too much and got confused. Similarly, Bode and Luke also didn't suspect a possible memory loss and handled Walter's actions differently.

As Bode realized his grandfather finding comfort in remembering past memories, he decided to lift his spirit with a fishing trip. However, little did the Leone men know that the trip would soon turn into a rescue mission.

As the trip begins, old wounds surface. Jake senses troubles and distances himself from the family’s deep-seated conflicts. While everyone seems to have slept inside their tents, Bode notices his grandfather leaving the camp side. He even tells Walter not to wander into the woods, as it could lead to an accident.

However, Walter does not listen to his grandson and notices a car. When the two got closer, they found a man trapped inside his car for about four days. The man reveals he has been serving on rainwater and ketchup packets and could have died.

The men quickly pulled together to keep the victim stable while waiting for help. Meanwhile, Jake tells Luke about sleeping with Gabby, and he has been trying to tell this to Bode since he got invited for the trip.

Later in the Fire Country Season 3 episode, Luke suggests Jake be honest. This helps Jake confront Bode after the fishing trip. Upon hearing the truth, Bode finds it "hard to swallow" but reminds Jake about being a part of his family. While it was upsetting, Bode's priority is his family, especially Walter.

While Bode might be upset, he's currently worried about his grandfather as he had to constantly remind Walter of what they were doing. His grandfather forgot multiple times that they had just rescued someone during the fishing trip.

This confirms Walter Leone is having cognitive issues, and Bode immediately tells his mother about it. Sharon's concern was right all along, and now they've decided to get Walter to consult a doctor.
