The Mandalorian is counted among the most popular Star Wars shows. The Disney+ series stars Pedro Pascal in the titular role of Din Djarin, who goes on a mission to project Grogu and escort him to safety.
The show went on for three seasons, featuring a total of 24 episodes. When the final season premiered in March 2023, Pedro Pascal sat for an interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he talked about his favorite day of filming on the show.
The actor revealed he enjoyed shooting for The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 1 the most. He was fascinated by the set that day which resembled an urban city as Din Djarin and Grogu walked around the town in search of other Mandalorians:
“[My favorite filming experience was ] The first episode of season 2, when we meet this really amazing Blade Runner-esque urban environment. I can't think of a time in Star Wars where you felt like you were in a real city.”
When Pedro Pascal revealed The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 1 was his favorite filming experience
In the opening sequence of The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 1, titled Chapter 9: The Marshal, Din Djarin and Grogu are seen walking down an alley in the darkness.
The city closely resembles the real world, unlike other Star Wars settings. In the town, the duo meets with an Abyssin named Gor Koresh who guides them toward Mos Pelgo. Talking about how he enjoyed the whole experience of filming in a real-world setting, Pedro Pascal said in his interview:
“We have this immaculate set that's built and surrounded by the volume which creates an infinite sort of visual experience as far as skies, planets, and landscapes are concerned, and space and ships and all kinds of things. But the practical set was the most immaculate, down to it being graffitied and decorated. Every inch of it was designed.”
The actor said he was impressed by the landscape in The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 2 as well, where Din Djarin and Grogue encountered an ice cave while trying to protect the eggs of the Frog Lady. Highlighting how he was mesmerized by the icy landscape, Pascal stated:
“The snow-capped world was also completely detailed. It just felt like you were stepping onto these highly sophisticated amusement park rides, in a way — with very little being left to the imagination because of how incredible the design work is from all the departments.”
Pedro starred as the lead in all three seasons of the action-adventure series and impressed the audience with his layered performance. The actor will be reprising his role in the film The Mandalorian & Grogu, which serves as a sequel to the television series.
The show marked the first Star Wars live-action series on Disney+ and also starred Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto, Misty Rosas as the Frog Lady, Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Mercedes Varnado as Koska Reeves, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, and Gina Carano as Cara Dune.
All seasons of The Mandalorian are streaming on Disney+.
