CBS's FBI cast a new actress in Season 7, who will be John Boyd's Stuart Scola's new partner on the show.
The police procedural created by Wolf Entertainment debuted on CBS in September 2018. It follows the workings of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in New York City, where the personnel work hard on many cases to ensure safety in the city.
Over time, the show has gained a lot of popularity but has also seen many exits due to various reasons. One such cast exit was Scola's former partner, Tiffany Wallace, played by Katherine Renee Kane. Kane joined the FBI in Season 3 and has remained Scola's long-time partner for many years.
But after Kane's exit last October, it was expected that the makers might bring in a new cast as Scola's partner. As per an exclusive report from Deadline, actress Emily Alabi has been cast in Season 7 as Scola's new partner.
More on Alabi's casting in FBI Season 7 in our story.
Emily Alabi joined FBI Season 7 as Scola's new partner
Alabi grew up in San Francisco, and her work credits include titles like S.W.A.T., Magnum P.I., Joe Pickett, and Found. Coincidentally, she has also played a small role in FBI: International, where she appeared in an episode in 2024 as Olivia Navarro.
Now, it has been confirmed that she will join Season 7 as a new character, and if everything goes well, fans might see her in Season 8 in a recurring role as Scola's partner.
Earlier, Lisette Olivera's Syd Ortiz was expected to take Kane's place, but she exited the show after a few episodes, leaving the spot for Scola's partner open once again.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, John Boyd (Scola) revealed how his character needs a trustworthy partner on the show after Kane's exit:
''...what would be cool is for Scola to get the kind of partner that he doesn't know he needs...Someone that challenges him, someone that teaches him, that he can learn from. You really, really need that trust on this show, you have to have a partner that you feel like you can really trust, and it'll be interesting to build that back again someday."
Seems like Scola is about to have a trustworthy partner on the show again.
FBI Season 7 will return with new episodes
Following a winter break, FBI Season 7 is finally back with new episodes. Episode 9 will be released on CBS on January 28, 2025, at 8 pm ET. You can also catch the new episodes on Paramount+ with Showtime.
Episode 8 saw the team investigating a gold robbery at an airport, which was later linked to OA's long-time friend Clay Voss. After he betrayed him in the episode's final moments by claiming the gold, OA shoots him, proving that nothing is before his profession.
The official logline for Episode 9 reads as follows:
''The investigation into an assistant U.S. attorney's death leads the team to a related airline whistleblower scandal and the chilling discovery that they don't have much time to thwart terrorists from crashing numerous in-flight commercial aeroplanes.''
The team will have to race against time to stop a terrorist conspiracy that is about to crash many commercial flights. It would be interesting to see how and when Alabi's character will be introduced on the show and how she will affect Scola.
