FBI Season 7 Episode 16 recap: 'Covered' A security breach puts Maggie's life in danger

CBS's crime drama series FBI continues to delve into high-stakes criminal investigations by federal agents. FBI Season 7, Episode 16, titled 'Covered,' was released on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

The episode opened up with the shocking leak of the identities of the FBI undercover agents. This leak led to the murder of Special Agent Gavin Rice, who infiltrated the Irish mob. The security breach and the death of their fellow agent make the FBI agents concerned for their colleagues. Through swift investigation, they soon discovered the mole within the FBI. However, the lives of several undercover agents are still at stake. Is it too late to save SA Maggie Bells, working as an undercover agent with an eco-terrorist group?

Special Agent Gavin Rose's death and security breach within the FBI: FBI Season 7, Episode 16

Special Agent Gavin Rose was an undercover agent in the Sullivan Organized Crime Group (the Irish mob) operated by Sean Sullivan. Sean Sullivan ordered the mob to kill Gavin Rose after his true identity was revealed while he left for Ireland. Denis Brady killed SA Gavin Rose and was arrested by the FBI. Upon investigation, they came to know that Sullivan had been informed about Gavin's motives by Curtis Swann. The Special Agent in charge, Jubal Valentine, interrogated Brady when he came to know that there was an internal breach among the FBI. The mole sold the information to Curtiss in exchange for money, who sold it to Gangs. All the FBI agents were interrogated and cleared, except the IT contractor, Dylan McKelvie.

Turns out the mole was Dylan McKelvie, who had access to the system at the six-month interval for its smooth operation. McKelvie was arrested by the Feds, where he was trying to convert the cash into some precious stones. McKelvie revealed his anti-government sentiments, and the diagnosis of his terminal disease made him take the drastic step. He also revealed that he stole eight files from the FBI undercover but did not sell Maggie's file to Curtiss. He instead gave it to the eco-terrorist group that Maggie was investigating as an undercover agent.

Maggie's life is at risk: FBI Season 7, Episode 16

McKelvie's revelation about Maggie's file shocked the Fed agents. They knew that time was running out. On the other hand, the eco-terrorists locked Maggie in a van and set it ablaze. However, she was saved by the team, and she told them about a suspected bomb attack by an eco-terrorist on an oil pipeline.

The terrorist group was headed by Grant DiArmes, an oil tycoon. However, his daughter Josie was different from her father; she wanted to use the money for environmental causes instead of funding criminals. Meanwhile, the group brought the tanker to Greenpoint, risking thousands of lives in a single blast. As Josie did not agree with the gang's methods, she revealed the bomb's location to the FBI. The FBI and army reached the location and evacuated the people as much as they could. Maggie bravely knocked down the man with the detonator and arrested the rest of the culprits.
