The fan-favorite procedural drama, USA Network’s White Collar will be coming back on screen in a new avatar with White Collar Renaissance. The series follows the story of a con man called Neal Caffrey played by Matt Bomer, who helps the FBI to find white-collar criminals. Many of the original cast are expected to reprise their roles. About the new spinoff show, Tim DeKay, who portrayed the role of FBI Agent Peter Burke said,
‘It’s a fantastic script, and it answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show, and it would introduce the show to those who haven’t seen it as well. Both edges of sword are honed. It honours Willie, too, in a profound way.’
In June 2024, at an event organized by Variety, White Collar creator Jeff Eastin divulged that the reboot of the show is in development. Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay, and Tiffani Thiessen joined him on the panel. When Eastin spoke about the revival, Bomer enthusiastically said,
‘I’m in.’
Ever since the announcement, Eastin finished writing the scripts for the spinoff show and turned them to networks. The show is currently finding a new home for itself. While Disney 20th Century Television has passed White Collar Renaissance, potential platforms such as Netflix are being shopped.
About White Collar
White Collar was a witty drama series that ran on the USA Network from 2009-2014. The series had a total of six seasons. In the show, Neal Caffrey, played by Matt Bomer, bargains a deal with the FBI to help them catch high-profile white-collar criminals. Neal, a con man himself, uses fascinating means to draw the law-breakers. The show gave the audience a glimpse into crime in the corporate world. Tim DeKay as FBI Agent Peter Burke and Tiffani Thiessen as Elizabeth Burke, Peter’s wife who assists him in his cases, are both expected to return for the spinoff show.
In the last season, Neal pulls off the biggest con of all by faking his death without anyone’s knowledge. The final episode of White Collar aired on December 18, 2014.
What to expect in White Collar Renaissance
The show will likely follow Neal's conning adventures while helping bring white-collar criminals to justice. Since the show ended 10 years ago, there have been developments in the world of law and technology. The new series may key the same into the storyline. One of the original cast members, Willie Garson, who passed away in September 2021 played a key role in White Collar. The spinoff show may also pay homage to his character Mozzie.
In September 2024, Eastin revealed on X that the pilot episode will be titled ‘Masquerade’.
