As the talk of Fallout Season 2 intensifies, rumors only surfaced lately that shooting is set to take place in November, far ahead of schedule. Fans of the post-apocalyptic series, based on the iconic video game franchise from Bethesda, can breathe easy as a tentative filming date has been set for Season 2.

As per Screen Rant, an interview at New York Comic Con revealed to the world that there would be a film start date for the show, with Leslie Uggams, who plays the Overseer in Vault 33 as Betty Pearson, agreeing on a November start.

Speaking enthusiastically about the new season, she said,

"I'm excited about it."

This could mean that her storyline will still play a big part in the show's upcoming season. Season 1, which launched in April 2024, ended with multiple cliffhangers, and something related to Vault-Tec is not ruled out from showing in the next chapter.

To get you excited for Fallout Season 2, here is what we know so far.

The production timeline for Season 2 surprised most viewers. Season renewals often take a long time, but Amazon Prime Video moved fast after Fallout's successful April debut. The show was renewed only a week after the season finale in August 2024, as reported by Esquire.

Westworld co-creators, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, have announced that in the show's second season, they will take a much closer look at all the nooks and crannies that the game has to offer, not to mention the dark elements not touched upon in Season 1.

Filming of the first season began in July 2022 and dragged almost two years until its release. Thanks to the pre-built sets and costumes, filming of Season 2 should be relatively much quicker. But the extensive post-production will mean that fans might have to wait until 2026 for the new season to drop.

Fallout Season 2 storyline and Vault-Tec mysteries

While not a lot is known yet about Fallout Season 2, it treats the fans well by taking off where Season 1 left off: that wacky ending. People are scrambling into underground vaults after a nuclear disaster in this post-apocalyptic setting, and there will be a deeper dive into all the shady secrets from Vault-Tec.

Season 1 taught vault dwellers like Betty Pearson (Leslie Uggams) and Lucy (Ella Purnell) as they faced the dangerous life outside.

Uggams dropped hints about Betty's storyline in an interview with Screen Rant saying,

"Betty's got some things up her sleeve."

This might mean Vault 33 could have an even bigger part in the next season. Maximus (Aaron Moten), Lucy, and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) are the protagonists. The series features battles against raiders, bounty hunters, and the Brotherhood of Steel.

It was the storyline of the character that piqued the showrunners' interest in the instance of Maximus. Nolan told Esquire,

“He’s like the player…which decision are you making? It’s a little more like us, right?”

This player-driven narrative will dictate much of the story in Season 2 and will allow fans to see the choices and tough decisions from the video games.

Fallout Season 2 filming location and cast updates

The Hollywood Reporter says the show is expected to shift production from New York to California after Fallout Season 2, thanks to tax incentives through the California Film Commission.

This is a hint that there could be new settings for the Vault Dwellers and thus bring the West Coast into Fallout. While Leslie Uggams and Walton Goggins have been confirmed to return, other regular cast members, like Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten, will be returning for the season.

Despite only its first year, it managed to push 17 Emmy nominations and even an Outstanding Drama Series nod. Fans would wait forever for Season 2, but promises of darker, more complicated storylines are already making fans care.

You can catch Season 1 on Prime Video, and Fallout Season 2 will also drop exclusively there.
