Prime Video’s latest offering, The Edge of Sleep is an American thriller series, based on a podcast that goes by the same name.
Written by Willie Block and Jake Emmanuel and directed by Corey Adams, The Edge of Sleep consists of six episodes.
There is also a book by the same name that has been inspired by the same podcast.
What is The Edge of Sleep based on?
The show The Edge of Sleep was created by Mark Fischbach, who is known to his subscribers by his YouTube name Markiplier.
The podcast had quickly become a hit, and was the biggest genre narrative podcast of all time. It had 6 million downloads and the numbers kept increasing.
A second season of the podcast was announced in April 2022 with an expected release in the same year. However, production has not yet begun even in 2024. However, series writer Jake Emmanuel had mentioned on X:
"Production has been hard to pin down simply because of everyone’s schedules."
Further adding that the second season has already been completely written and will be 11 episodes long.
The popularity of the podcast gave Mark Fischbach the idea of turning it into a TV series. He would be reprising his role as the night watchman and writers Willie Block and Jake Emanuel were ready to write for the TV version.
The team also attached Longlegs producer Brian Kavanaugh Jones to the project.
