Face to Face with Scott Peterson is a Peacock docuseries that shines a spotlight on one of the most notorious cases in modern American crime history. Scott Peterson was convicted of the murder of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner. Reportedly, his wife was eight and a half months pregnant when she disappeared on December 24, 2002.

The murders took place in Modesto, California. Scott was arrested four days after their bodies were found on April 18, 2003. Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Innocence Project took on his case, and multiple pieces of physical evidence were permitted to be re-tested for DNA, which could potentially exonerate him.

In this three-part Peacock series, Face to Face with Scott Peterson, we witness the convict opening up for the first time in two decades.

In the docuseries, he talks about the voicemail he left for her at 2:15 p.m. on the day she disappeared. According to the investigators of the case, allegedly, this voicemail was simply his attempt to cover his tracks before he killed Laci Peterson and dumped her body in San Francisco Bay.

Another chilling moment from the Peacock docuseries is when he shares a memory with his wife, Laci Peterson, on the day she disappeared. He recalls eating with her from the same bowl. He says,

"Every moment remains so tactile. I'm still there, and the smells and the lighting, the sound of when I said goodbye to Laci. And then my family was gone."

2. Scott talks about his affair with Amber Frey, in Face to Face with Scott Peterson

In the prosecution’s case against Scott Peterson, his extramarital affair with Amber Frey was a crucial component in the case. Scott says it was a "childish, lack of self-esteem, selfish," act. He also said that he “certainly” regretted his decision to cheat on his wife, Laci Peterson.

However, he maintains that he finds it “so offensive and so disgusting” that he was accused of killing Laci simply because he did not want to assume the role of a father or husband. The affair played a crucial role in the prosecution's case, and many believe it cast him in a negative light in the eyes of the public.

To justify his decision to continue his communication with Amber romantically even after Laci disappeared, Scott said in the series that he wanted the police to stay focused on the search for his wife, Laci.

"Stay in contact with Amber, I thought, and she wouldn’t get into the picture, complicate it, ruin the search.”

In an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in January 2003, Scott Peterson, before his arrest, claimed that Laci knew about his affair and wasn’t upset about it.

He stated,

"No one knows our relationship but us."

In the series, Face to Face with Scott Peterson, he shared that he was receiving death threats and was spat on at the gas station.

"I wish I could say I was stronger, but all that stuff did take a toll on me."

The Peacock docuseries explores the day Scott Peterson was arrested. He says that he was going to Torrey Pines in La Jolla to play golf because his family, including him, immersed themselves in activities during tough times. In the series, Detectives Brocchini and Jon Buehler said that they were tailing him and they noticed that he was driving erratically; to avoid an accident, they arrested him. To justify his actions, Scott said that he thought that those detectives were reporters following him.

In Face to Face with Scott Peterson, Laci’s husband disputes the reports that he was arrested near the Mexican border with a fake ID and $10,000 in cash. By then, he had dyed his hair. He claims that those reports were misleading and that he was going to scam the golf course, so he had his brother's ID to get a discount. He stated that he got the cash by selling his truck.

He explained,

"The reason I dyed my hair was because of the harassment and death threats I was getting."

Recent developments in the case shed light on a burglary near the house of the Peterson family. There have been speculations that this burglary could possibly be the missing piece in the case. However, authorities have reasons to believe that the burglary happened on December 26 rather than December 24, 2002.

In the Peacock docuseries, Scott added,

"There was a burglary across the street from our home. And I believe that Laci went over there to see what was going on, and that's when she was taken."

Scott Peterson was sentenced to death on March 16, 2005. However, this verdict was overturned in October 2020. In 2021, he was resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
