Love is Blind: Germany dropped 4 new episodes on January 3, 2025, on Netflix. The show stars various individuals who have come to try their luck at finding their true match.
The show follows the original format, where the men and women cannot see each other while in the pods. They have to fall in love based on their personality match and then, only after getting engaged, are allowed to see their partner.
This raises the question of whether love is truly blind because matches are made solely on emotional connections rather than physical ones. The couples are then sent to a honeymoon retreat to explore their physical compatibility moving forward with the engagement.
Recently, Love is Blind: Germany star Tolga is making headlines for his relationship with Shila on the show. They were the last ones to do so and his comments about being "toxic" aren't sitting right with the fans. They raised concerns about his behavior to which, he recently replied in an Instagram post saying,
"I took part in this show because I believed it was an opportunity for me to express myself and find love. I understand that not everyone has the same opinions or perspectives, but I want to be clear that no one has the right to direct hatred or threats at me or other candidates. Everyone has the right to feel safe and respected, both online and offline."
Love is Blind: Germany star Tolga replies to the hate
Before locking himself down with Shila on Love is Blind: Germany, Tolga was also connected to another girl named Hannah. However, he broke that relationship off. The hate towards him originates from how when he first met with Shila after getting engaged, he said to the cameras,
"It feels really weird to see Shila because she's actually a stranger I've never seen before."
Even when they went on their honeymoon in Love is Blind: Germany, Tolga was uncertain about her and often made remarks to the other men about his relationship. Shila, in beautiful ignorant bliss, is still not aware of it.
While predicting the future of his relationship, Tolga said,
"Toxic Tolga and toxic Shila. We're a toxic couple."
He has often made comments about how marriage feels like a prison to him on Love is Blind: Germany which has fans concerned even more. He has not been good at hiding his emotions and talking about his feelings saying,
"So suffocating, it constantly feels like I've got a hand around my throat... I can't breathe."
Tolga did not even take Shila to meet with his family. This further solidifies his uncertainty towards her and fans reacted to it. Talking about the same, Tolga continued in his post,
"It should be mentioned again that you only see a fraction of the dates, some of which lasted hours."
He continued by saying,
"The negative comments and death threats I have received are not only sick, but dangerous. It is a devastating reminder of the importance of advocating for compassion, understanding and respect. To all those who hate me: I ask you to stop and think before you say words or actions that do no one any good."
Taking his message on a positive note, he added,
"I will not let this negativity crush me. Instead, I will continue to hold on to my own journey, my determination, and my hope that we can all treat each other with more love and respect."
Love is Blind: Germany fans react to Tolga's post
Reacting to Tolga's message, Love is Blind: Germany fans wrote their opinions in the comments. They supported his stance and acknowledged how different reality TV shows could be. Voicing their support, one fan wrote,
"Unfortunately, this is often the case when you stand in public life! And nowadays for many people it is so that they no longer have obstacles to insult, bully and come with murder threats as blatantly as you are. Dear Tolga, stay strong, do not let yourself be intimidated and go on your way! 🙌"
"Bro you're a public figure, don't let such comments get to you. Anyone who already knows you and will get to know you, knows how warm-hearted and humorous you are. The production has arranged everything so well to create stereotypes. Stay as you are Tolga 🤝🏽 we got your back!"
Love is Blind: Germany drops a new batch of episodes on January 10, 2025, on Netflix.
