As The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras barrels toward its grand finale on January 1, 2025, the competition has never been fiercer - especially among its female contestants. In an exclusive sneak peek posted on the show's Instagram handle, Era I representative, Rachel Robinson, summed up the intensity perfectly:
"Every woman has to wanna win the last women's challenge day. The stakes can not be higher right now."
And high stakes they are, with a cool million dollars on the line. After Cara Maria Sorbello's dramatic exit in the previous episode's water-treading challenge (spoiler alert: marine creatures aren't her favorite company), four powerhouse women remain: Rachel Robinson, Tori Deal, Jenny West, and Michele Fitzgerald.
These finalists, each representing different eras of The Challenge's storied history, are now facing off in what promises to be one of the most competitive female showdowns the series has ever seen.
The Challenge’s women and what they have to say about each other
While mutual respect runs deep among the remaining women, that doesn't mean they're pulling their punches - verbal or otherwise.
"Anyone of us could get it. Looking at everyone that is left in the game, we're all very strong women. At this point, it's just surviving to the final," Rachel said.
Rachel observed in a refreshingly honest assessment of her competition. The camaraderie took an amusingly dark turn when Jenny, after declaring "May the best woman win," joked about sneaking into Tori's room at night to break all her fingers. Tori's response? A playful "Not my fingers!" while Jenny continued her mock-chopping action, proving that even with a million dollars at stake, these competitors haven't lost their sense of humor.
Despite her elimination after a grueling two-and-a-half-hour water challenge, Cara Maria Sorbello has nothing but praise for her former The Challenge competitors. In a recent Parade interview, she particularly highlighted Tori's dedication to the game.
"She told me she was training four hours a day, running on the beach, doing math problems, doing puzzles, going swimming, intensive boot camps," Cara Maria revealed.
"She wanted to win. She knew the level of women competition was going to be through the roof, and she put in the work, and it showed."
Her admiration extended to Michele as well, noting how the contestant balanced leading with her heart while consistently delivering strong performances.
The path to victory
As The Challenge final part 2 approaches, each woman brings something unique to the table. Jenny's physical strength, Tori's meticulous preparation, Michele's strategic thinking, and Rachel's extensive experience make this anyone's game. The elimination of Cara Maria, who boldly stated that she held her own against some of "the best swimmers" in Challenge history, serves as a reminder that in this competition, past accomplishments do not ensure future success.
The surviving women appear to understand that, while they may joke about ruining each other's fingers, the true way to success rests in surpassing some of the toughest competitors The Challenge has ever seen.
As Wednesday's finale approaches, one thing is clear: whether it is treading water for hours, solving puzzles, or maintaining their sense of humor under pressure, these women have proven they're not just participating in the competition - they are redefining it. The only question remaining is which era will claim the crown.
The next episode of The Challenge 40 will broadcast on MTV on Wednesday, January 8th at 8/7c.
