Sam Wilson is going to have a tough time in Captain America: Brave New World as he will be facing not one but at least six villains. The superhero film marks Sam’s first solo outing as Captain America as he takes Steve Rogers’ legacy forward.
Sam, played by Anthony Mackie, finds himself in the middle of an international conflict. He has to fight against a newly elected president and find out who the mastermind behind the conspiracy is before time runs out.
In his mission, Captain America encounters more enemies than friends since a number of villains are sent to stop him. Here are all the villains who are confirmed to be a part of Captain America: Brave New World.
The villains in Captain America: Brave New World
1) Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross aka Red Hulk
First and foremost is Thaddeus "Thunderbolt” Ross, the former U.S. Secretary of State in the MCU who has been elected as the President. If political power was not enough, Ross now possesses immense physical power as well, as he has turned into Red Hulk.
Ross has appeared several times in the MCU and was previously played by William Hurt. As the actor passed away in 2022, Hollywood legend Harrison Ford replaced him as Captain America: Brave New World's main antagonist. Red Hulk and Captain America are expected to have an epic showdown in the film which will leave the audience excited.
2) Seth Voelker aka Sidewinder

Seth Voelker aka Sidewinder is another formidable villain in Captain America: Brave New World, who has teleportation powers. He is the King of the Serpent Society, a team of villains wearing snake-like costumes and having technology that resembles the reptiles.
In the film’s trailer, Sidewinder is seen possessing some lethal weapons, which could be dangerous for Captain America. The role is being played by Giancarlo Esposito, known for his stellar performances in shows like Breaking Bad and The Boys.
3) Samuel Sterns aka The Leader
The Leader is expected to be the mastermind behind the conspiracy, who is pulling strings from the background. Scientist Samuel Sterns, who worked with Bruce Banner in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, went through a mutation at the end of the film and turned into a villain called The Leader.
He is now returning to the MCU with Captain America: Brave New World. He has the power to control minds and might be the one who turns Thunderbolt into Red Hulk. Actor Tim Blake Nelson, who played the character in The Incredible Hulk, reprises his role in the film.
4) Isaiah Bradley

Isaiah Bradley is a war veteran who was turned into a super soldier in the 1950s but was later sent to prison for three decades. The fact that he is an African-American made things worse for him as he faced racism.
Bradley was seen in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and is supposed to be an ally of Sam. However, in the film, his character has taken a different turn. From the trailer, Isaiah seems to be controlled by someone as he attacks President Thaddeus Ross.
As Bradley’s mind and actions are not under his control, he could pose a serious threat to his friend, Sam. Carl Lumbly returns to play Isaiah Bradley from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
5) Rachel Leighton aka Diamondback
Rachel Leighton aka Diamondback is the only female antagonist on the list. She is a member of the Serpent Society, who does not possess any superpower but is highly athletic and trained in martial arts.
In the comics, the villain falls for Steve Rogers and turns against her own team. It remains to be seen how her story is intertwined with Sam Wilson’s in the film. Maze Runner star Rosa Salazar appears as Diamondback, marking her MCU debut.
6) David Lawfers aka Copperhead

David Lawfers, known by his supervillain name Copperhead, is also a member of the Serpent Society. In the comics, he can shoot poisonous energy at his opponents with a technology that recreates snake-like features.
In the Captain America: Brave New World trailer, Copperhead and Sam Wilson are seen getting into a physical fight. The role is played by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, who was earlier seen in shows like The Innocents, Game of Thrones, and The Witcher.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit the screens on February 14, 2025.
