Hwang Dong-hyuk's dystopian survival thriller series Squid Game Season 2 finally hit Netflix today after a long period of anticipation. Protagonist Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-Jae), aka player 456, returns to this deadly game of life, death, and money while trying to warn participants against it.

With the guilt of other players' deaths still hanging over him after winning the first game in Season 1, Seong decides to turn his life around. So, as he walks away from his flight to America, he resolves to end the life-taking, vicious cycle of the game once and for all.

However, things do not go as planned. Seong tries to warn his fellow participants and pleads that they work together against the game rules to survive the nightmare. Disbelief gives rise to more death as the plot thickens and leaves further questions for the audience.

Every Squid Game Season 2 episode and their runtimes

Squid Game Season 2 comprises 7 episodes in contrast to the first installment, where creator Hwang Dong-hyuk brought 9 episodes for us. However, the weight of the show and its dark theme still remain.

As per reports, the episode count is lower in Season 2, as some of the content was left for a third season. This further leaves a possibility of subplots where protagonist Seong Gi-hun will gather a new group to look for the desolated piece of land where the deadly games are conducted.

Seong's ultimate mission is to end all of it forever and save as many financially desperate contestants as possible. Here is a look at all the episodes of Squid Game Season 2 along with their names and runtimes:

A number of new faces have joined the cast of Squid Game, while a number of stars reprise their roles—namely Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun. Earlier it was confirmed that Park Sung-Hoon, Kang Ha-Neul, Im Si-Wan, and Yang Dong-geun will be the new cast members.

A recent update said that former K-Pop star turned actress Jo Yu-ri will also play a pivotal role in Squid Game Season 2. She has been cast as Kim Jun-hee—a young and ambitious woman who decides to participate in the deadly games due to a financial obligation.

As per reports, Squid Game Season 2 has presented the deadly tasks in a more menacing way, with new rules being added. Contestants are now left with an option to vote on whether they want to quit the game after a particular round and equally distribute the sum or they want everyone to keep going.

The theme of right versus wrong remains central to the story, with character indecisiveness being a primary tool of narration.
