The House of the Dragon season 2 finale episode just dropped, raising countless questions for fans. Surprisingly, there were no character deaths mentioned in episode 8 of House of the Dragon season 2. To truly uncover what happens next, it's best to dive into the books—no, literally. House of the Dragon is adapted from the book Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin. The show revolves around the fall of House Targaryen when it was thought to be at the peak of its power.

As we witness a powerful kingdom crumbling under a state of civil war owing to the arrogance and vanity of the Targaryens, the Game of Thrones prequel series features the deaths of several main characters, some graphically gruesome. How do the characters of the House Of The Dragon meet their end?

The spine-chilling season 2 finale leaves fans wondering about the notorious death scenes from House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. While fans anticipated a major character death for a thrilling storyline, they did not even get a battle to witness.

While we sit back on a thin line with tight hope for some thrill in the House of the Dragons season 3, let's take a look at possible deaths that might happen. As for the books by George R. R. Martin, the character's certain cause of death is mentioned.


1) Jacaerys Velaryon

Jacaerys is also known as Jace. He is Rhaenyra's eldest son and was sent to the North to secure alliances for his mother. He was later involved in a battle against Alicent Hightower's son, Aegon II Targaryen's forces. During the battle over the Dragonstone waters, his dragon, Vermax, was injured and eventually succumbed to its battle-inflicted wounds. His death in mid-air causes them both to fall, which leads to his death.


2) Criston Cole

He was also known as Criston the Kingmaker and was a key supporter of Aegon II. He died in the civil war. He proposed a parley with the enemy forces but was eventually betrayed, which led to his death. He was killed in an ambush. He refused to give up and died fighting.

In the House of the Dragon season finale, he is seen fighting the King's Landing War alongside Alicent. He was also caught red-handed by Alicent's brother while he took a deep breath, smelling the aroma from her handkerchief, causing a troublesome sword quarrel that ended in a truce.


3) Aegon Targaryen

Aegon II Targaryen received deceit at the hands of his trusted people. The man was poisoned by his council members. The members were tired of his way of ruling and decided to kill him.

In the finale episode of House of the Dragon season 2, he is seen getting counseling from Larys to flee along with him before the King's Landing battle begins. Keeping his injuries in light, King Aegon decided to keep his duties aside and not proceed with the war.


4) Larys Strong

Larys Strong, also known as Larys Clubfoot, is shown as a manipulative and cunning character. He was shown to the gates and was executed for betrayal. He conspired with the reigning monarch and was executed when the same came to light.

In the finale episode, he is seen fleeing away with heavily injured King Aegon Targaryen. After he successfully convinces the King to go into hiding during the war of King's Landing.


5) Mysaria

Mysaria’s character made an appearance to die in season 1, episode 9, called The Green Council in a fire. She managed to survive, played an important role in the war and returned to the House Of Dragon in Season 2.

In the end, she is taken in as a prisoner and is asked to walk the streets naked while being whipped; if she can complete the walk, she will be allowed to live. But Mysaria dies before she can complete the journey.


6) Corlys Velaryon

He is also known as the Sea Snake. He is a strong character who manages to survive the dance of the dragon and goes on to live till his old age. He also served as the hand to the queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and later died of natural causes. A peaceful death embraced him, a rarity in the Civil War era.

Lord Corlys has pledged his allegiance to the House Black. In the finale episode, he is seen fighting alongside team black. As for the family, his bastard son, Alyn of Hull, discovers who his father is in House of the Dragon episode 8.


7) Rhaenyra Targaryen

In the season finale, Rhaenyra hosts Alicent Hightower's visit. Shortly after, she prepares her army with her husband, Daemon, who bends his knee when he sees Rhaenyra on the Iron Throne. While keeping her sons in line, she prepares for the battle at King's Landing.
