One thing that players in Squid Game learn after stepping into the competition is there's no way of going back. They can either win the game or die, which is what Gi-hun tries to explain. However, following their vulnerabilities and need for money, several players still agree to continue playing, which results in some of the major deaths:

1) Jung-bae (Player 390)

The most heartbreaking death in Squid Game Season 2 is of Gi-hun's closest friend, Jung-bae. The two stayed together since the first game and participated in the rebellion to survive.

However, in the last episode, "Friend or Foe," Jung-bae meets his end when Front Man arrives and shoots him in front of the protagonist, saying, "Look closely at the consequences of your little hero game." Now that Jung-bae is no more, it will be harder for Gi-hun to continue his quest.

2) Salesman

The first step in Gi-hun's plan to expose the creators of the deadly squid game was to find the Salesman who recruits people for the competition. He spends most of his prize money on finding the recruiter and finally meets him at the end of the first episode, "Bread and Lottery."

The two then participate in a deadly game involving Russian roulette, in which one of them dies after six rounds. At first, it looks like the Salesman might break the rule and shoot Gi-hun, but he honors the game and shoots himself instead.

The Salesman is played by actor Gong Yoo, who is known for his shows like Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, The Age of Shadows, and more. While he played a brief role in Squid Game Season 2, it helped drive the plot further.

3) Mr. Kim

Mr. Kim is the loan shark from Squid Game Season 1 who helps Gi-hun locate the Salesman. Woo-Seok accompanies Mr. Kim, and after multiple attempts, they finally find the recruiter. It turns out that the Salesman is smarter than the two, and before getting caught, he locks up Mr. Kim and Woo-Seok.

He ties them up to a chair and forces them to play rock, paper, and scissors with the same deadly rule. In the final round, Mr. Kim loses and gets shot in the head, marking the first death in Squid Game Season 2.

4) Drone Pilot

Another unexpected death in Season 2 is of the drone soldier who accompanied Detective Hwang Jun-ho during his quest to locate the Island where the competition is held. As seen in the last episode, when the pilot finds out that Captain Park is a betrayer and is destroying their drone, he ends up getting killed. Captain Park, an ally of the Front Man, throws the pilot into the water, ensuring the team is unaware of the truth.

Among the standout players in the competition was Thanos (Player 230), who managed to survive until a fight took place in Episode 6. Thanos wanted more players to vote "O" instead of "X" as it would continue the game.

However, some of the players, including Myung-gi, didn't want to follow his orders, and they got into a fight. As tensions escalate, Myung-gi takes out a fork and stabs Thanos in his throat, resulting in the rapper's death.

6) Gyeong-seok (Player 246)

Gyeong-seok is among the players who joined Gi-hun during his fight against the soldiers in the Squid Game Season 2 finale. When Front Man betrayed the team members and staged his death, their situation worsened.

Following the chaos and fear of losing, Gyeong-seok surrenders, asking the soldiers to let him live. He wanted the prize money to pay for his daughter's cancer treatment, but the soldiers didn't let him survive.
