Power couple Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, who were behind shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Gilmore Girls, are back on Prime Video with their latest series, Étoile.
The official synopsis for Étoile, as per Rotten Tomatoes, reads,
“In New York and Paris, dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions, swapping their most talented stars.”
While the cast features some famous real life ballerinas, actors who have also previously worked with Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are part of the show.

Luke Kirby as Jack McMillan
Luke Kirby plays the role of New York City Metropolitan Ballet Theater’s director, Jack McMillan. He is shown to be facing similar challenges like Geneviève Lavigne and thus agrees with the exchange to make the best of the situation.
Luke Kirby had previously starred in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Take This Waltz, Mambo Italiano, etc.
Charlotte Gainsbourg as Geneviève Lavigne
Paris’ Le Ballet National’s interim director, Geneviève Lavigne, is played by Charlotte Gainsbourg. Her character is strong and sharp-tongued, and she devises the plan of swapping the dancers with McMillan’s company in an attempt to revive both audience and funding.
Charlotte Gainsbourg is a French star who has worked with Lars Von Trier in his films like Antichrist, Nymphomaniac: Vols. I and II, and Melancholia.
Gideon Glick as Tobias Bell
Tobias Bell is a choreographer at McMillan’s New York City Metropolitan Ballet Theater. His innovative ideas are shown to be clashing with traditional methods as he comes to Paris from America.
Gideon Glick, who plays Bell, has previously been associated with projects like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Ocean’s Eight, Maestro, Devious Maids, American Horror Story etc.
Lou De Laâge as Cheyenne Toussant
Cheyenne Toussaint, played by Lou De Laâge, is the primary dancer of Lavigne’s Paris’ Le Ballet National. McMillan agrees with Lavigne’s idea of swapping dancers only if he could get Toussantin in his team, which leads her to New York to work with McMillan and his team.

Ivan du Pontavice as Gabin Roux
Gabin Roux is portrayed as an egoistic but talented dancer in Étoile. This Persian dancer is ambitious and is determined to prove his worth throughout the show.
Ivan du Pontavice has been previously seen in projects like Rupture, Children of the Night, On the Pulse etc.
