The Pitt star Noah Wyle recently addressed a major issue healthcare workers face daily - the rising violence against them. In an interview with TV Line, when Noah was asked about Doug Driscoll attacking the in-charge nurse Dana Evan and knocking her down in The Pitt Season 1 Episode 9, he said
"Violence against healthcare workers has been on the rise the last couple of years. It's part and parcel to tempers flaring from long wait times, but I think there's also something else going on, which I kind of an erosion of our own sense of decorum and decency."
The Pitt star who plays Dr. Michael Robby Robinavitch underscores the growing issue of violence against healthcare workers, particularly in a setting with tension, pressure, and chaos. He continued,
"Dana is a perfect choice because she's so instrumental to the running of this place. She's DNA to the place, she gives her life to the work, and she's an innocent victim in what happens to her. It just underscores the importance of recognizing the strain that these people work under."
Wyle hopes the audience will have a deeper understanding and empathy for the strain that healthcare workers endure daily.
Creator R.Scott Gemill also shared his thoughts on the violence that nurse Dana faced in The Pitt Season 1 Episode 9. He said to TVInsider,
"The reality is the violence towards emergency department workers is ridiculously high. One in four nurses have been assaulted, sometimes also with guns and knives. It's a real problem."
Max's new medical drama, The Pitt, debuted on January 9, 2025. It is based on the story of healthcare workers at the fictional Trauma Medical Hospital in Pittsburgh. Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the Pitt has topped the charts and managed to secure a whopping 93 % on Rotten Tomatoes.
