Emily in Paris is a Netflix original series, a creation by Darren Star, a renowned romantic comedy director. It follows star Lily Collins as the rising marketing executive from Chicago who lands her dream job in Paris after her company acquires a French luxury marketing firm.
Emily goes to work as a replacement for her pregnant boss before the trip. She has been tasked with improving their social media presence. In Paris, the sparks fly as Emily faces new experiences and challenges in the fight to win her coworkers' trust, make friends, and find some romance.
Well, viewers adore the complicated tension between her and the show's central love interest, Gabriel, portrayed by Lucas Bravo in Emily in Paris. On the show, Emily sets off a chain reaction in the hearts of several men in the city who would love to be with her. Here's a rundown of all the guys whose hearts have skipped a beat for the American fashion marketeer.
Some of Emily in Paris' love interests
1. Gabriel (Lucas Bravo)
Gabriel is a talented French chef who lives in the same apartment building as Emily, just one floor below. Since they met, there has been some undeniable mutual attraction. However, Gabriel is already in a serious relationship with Camille, who later becomes one of Emily's closest friends, thus forming a love triangle.
Despite their feelings for each other, Gabriel and Emily struggle to navigate these complications. This, therefore, creates tension throughout the series, as they constantly attempt to move past an undeniable connection and then, at the very least, establish boundaries, making Gabriel a significant figure in the complete romantic path of Emily.
2. Antoine Lambert (William Abadie)
The wealthy owner of a high-end perfumery, Antoine, was seeing Sylvie, one of Emily's coworkers and friends. However, he exhibits much interest in Emily — frequently complimenting her and giving away expensive presents. He has been a little flirtatious, though his continuing tangled alliance with Sylvie complicates the case even more. Emily is intelligent and thus doesn't let this interfere with her personal and professional life.
3. Mathieu Cadault (Charles Martins)
He is the nephew of a well-known fashion designer in Emily in Paris, Pierre Cadault. Mathieu is also close to his brand. He is portrayed as a charming fellow with connections and interest in Emily, who finds his status and personality appealing. They were beginning a relationship, and Mathieu hinted at taking her on vacation, which shows he was serious about being with her.
But soon enough, things between them did not go as expected. Despite the hard work being put into their relationship, Mathieu is still relegated to Emily's love life because she has lingering feelings for Gabriel.
4. Thomas (Julien Floreancig)
Thomas is another of Emily's short-lived romantic interests in Paris in Season 1. They meet for the first time in Episode 6 at a café. As Emily sits alone, she starts a conversation with Thomas, a professor of semiotics. They begin by discussing a couple sitting nearby, but later, Thomas admits this was to continue the conversation with her. Soon, they started a love affair and spent many nights together.
The relationship falls apart because Emily perceives that Thomas is not as sophisticated intellectually as she had assumed. He is, instead, a snob who does not want to attend a free performance of Swan Lake because it does not meet his standards.
5. Alfie (Lucien Laviscount)
Alfie is a British banker who Emily meets later in the series. Unlike the rest of the men in her life, Alfie is very straightforward and easygoing about romance. His sense of humor and casual energy feel like a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other emotionally charged relationships Emily has had in Paris.
Despite initially acting distant, Alfie begins to open up to Emily when they spend time together during French class. Later, he shares his view that Paris' reputation as the "City of Love" is exaggerated and artificial. However, by the end of the episode, they exchange meaningful looks while on a boat ride. From that point, their relationship develops into a more complex romance.
6. Timothee (Victor Meutelet)
In Season 1, Episode 8, Emily spends time in the French countryside with Camille and Gabriel. Camille speaks about her brother, who is finishing business school and appears to be perfect for her. When Emily meets Camille's brother Timothée on a tour at a winery, they are immediately drawn to each other. Eventually, they spend the night together.
The following day, Emily meets Théo - the brother Camille has talked about. Timothée is much younger than Camille's little brother, only 17 years old.
7. Fabien (Michel Biel)
Fabien seemed like a promising love interest for Emily in Season 1, but things quickly turned. In Episode 3, Emily meets him at a party hosted by her friend Mindy Chen. What was supposed to be an intimate gathering spiraled into a much larger event, leading Emily and Fabien to leave shortly after meeting each other.
They walk around Paris and practice translating English to French and vice versa. It started with simple words like "the moon" and moved on to intimate ones but was ruined by some utterly inappropriate comment from Fabien, which turned this budding romance into a flat-out no.
8. Marcello Muratori (Eugenio Franceschini):
In Season 4, Episode 6, Emily and Marcello meet on a snowy mountaintop after Emily's flight to Chicago is canceled. She goes to a cabin with Gabriel and Camille and tries to learn how to ski. Gabriel follows Camille, who is pregnant, down a slope, leaving Emily at the top. Marcello then arrives and assists Emily down the mountain. After helping her to safety, Marcello says goodbye.
The next time they meet at a Polo game, Emily learns that Marcello is from Rome, Italy. Now, she has to choose between staying in Paris with her work and relationship tensions or starting afresh in Paris. After the decision turns towards a more positive side, we see Emily traveling to Rome and enjoying fresh air in Italy. There was romance and chemistry between then and now; we can see Marcello more when the show returns in Season 5.
