Emily in Paris Season 5 to not include a major character from the previous instalments, but who? Answer revealed

A major character is leaving the cast for Emily in Paris Season 5, and it's not who everyone thought it'd be. There were months of speculation about the cast members who'd be returning for the fifth season of the romantic comedy, especially Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel. Netflix has finally released details about the much-anticipated Season 5 of Emily in Paris.

Along with production dates, venues, and an expected premiere, Netflix has also announced which of the major characters from Season 4 of the show will be returning for Emily in Paris Season 5.

Here's everything we know about the returning cast of Emily in Paris.

Emily in Paris Season 5: Major cast member not returning

Netflix announced in a recent press release that Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, will be returning for Emily in Paris Season 5. The press release also revealed that production would begin in May in Rome, which is where we last see Emily, and then move to Paris.

Creator Darren Star also revealed that cast members Lily Collins, Lucas Bravo, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Thalia Besson, and Eugenio Franceschini will be returning for Season 5. Surprisingly, Camille Razat, a series regular for the past 4 seasons of Emily in Paris, is absent from this list.

"We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!"

Camille Razat played Camille, Emily's one-time friend and main nemesis on Emily in Paris. Camille was last seen packing up and leaving in Season 4 after she failed to get into a relationship with Gabriel by faking a pregnancy. Even though Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel in Season 4, admitted publicly that he was unsure about his return to the show, it wasn't expected that Camille Razat would be the one leaving before Emily in Paris Season 5.

What will happen to Emily in Paris Season 5?

Lily Collins revealed during an appearance on Good Morning America that Emily in Paris would be returning for Season 5. She also revealed that her character would be exploring her connection with new beau Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini.

"Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance. We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time. I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season."

She also revealed that Emily's on-and-off boyfriend Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, would have to deal with his epiphany at the end of Season 4, that he wants to be with Emily, even though he was the one to end things with her:

"Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice"

Creator Darren Star revealed that Emily would be seen in Rome in Season 5 again, but this doesn't mean that she won't be returning to Paris again.

"Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome. It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
