Elsbeth season two recently aired its eighteenth episode on CBS. The latest episode of Elsbeth was titled I Know What You Did Thirty-Three Summers Ago and featured the revealing backstory of Judge Milton Crawford and put his character into context.
The latest episode of Elsbeth also saw Crawford meeting his end, albeit abruptly, at the hands of Delia. The shocking death set the CBS show in a completely different direction, and it remains to be seen what conclusion might be there on the cards after all for this season.
Here's everything that we know about the latest episode.
What happened on the latest episode of Elsbeth season 2?
The latest episode of Elsbeth opened with a flashback thirty-three years in the past. The year is 1992, and a group of three - Milton, Andy, and Sherry are seen in a country club that has a pool. Milton already has his eyes set on Sherry. The latter, however, seems to be rather interested in Andy and doesn't think much about Milton. Despite being at an early age, the Judge's twisted character soon comes into play, and he is able to get rid of Andy so that he can lay his hands on Sherry. After Sherry resists his advances and calls him "the lurker," Milton holds her head underwater and kills her.
The episode further revealed that although Andy knew about Milton's crime, Milton was temporarily able to buy his loyalty by using his contacts to get him admitted to an Ivy League college. Andy, however, was constantly bothered by his knowledge of Milton's crime and eventually spilled the details of the murder to the Senate Judiciary Committee through his partner Delia's phone. This happened to be the reason behind Milton's murder of Andy that was portrayed earlier this season.
While Wagner and Elsbeth tried their best to pin Andy's murder on Milton, the Judge proved to be too cunning, as he was able to wipe out the DNA evidence that could have implicated him. Towards the end of the latest episode of Elsbeth, Delia ended up gunning down Milton right in front of Elsbeth.
Michael Emerson opens up about the CBS show
Emerson recently shared his insights about the popular CBS show in an exclusive interview with TVLine. When asked if he had any idea that his character arc would end this way on the show, Emerson noted:
"I figured it would come to an end. I figured that justice would prevail or Elsbeth would prevail, but I had no idea in what way. I never dreamt that it would be in such a fateful sort of Greek way. So it was really satisfying when I got that final script and I saw how things were ending. I thought, “Oh, this is really good stuff.”
He was then asked about the filming of his death scene on the show, to which he answered:
"You know, that kind of a scene, it’s all about logistics. Part of your brain is playing the scene, but part of your brain is, “Where’s the camera? Can the camera see me over the shoulder of Delia? Or is the gun in my face? Where am I looking? How am I going to fall and not hurt myself?” And it’s a whole lot of little factors. It’s the usual juggling act that goes on in an actor’s brain when you’re shooting an important scene like that."
Elsbeth airs new episodes exclusively on CBS.
