Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for Dune: Prophecy Episode 6.

Dune: Prophecy Episode 6 sends shockwaves through the narrative with a high-octane mix of action and twists, setting the scene for Season 2. Emily Watson's Valya Harkonnen orchestrates a bold jailbreak, freeing Ynez, played by Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, and Chris Mason's Keiran from Desmond Hart's clutches, portrayed by Travis Fimmel, despite his relentless pursuit.

This trio's touchdown on Arrakis is no coincidence, echoing the desert planet's persistent magnetism throughout the show. Producer Alison Schapker drops hints that Arrakis will be the battleground for Season 2's drama. Valya's got her work cut out, untangling Desmond's improbable sandworm survival and the creepy backstory of those mind-boggling thinking machines in his peepers.

On the flip side, the Sisterhood's future is as shaky as a sand dune. With Jodhi May's Natalya seizing the throne as the new Empress, she's pointing the finger at the Sisterhood for the Imperium's woes. The trio's on the run, the empire's in shambles—talk about raising the stakes!

So, what's next for Dune: Prophecy?

Valya’s escape on Dune: Prophecy was a calculated risk

Valya's escape with Ynez and Keiran really shows she's got some smarts, and the situation they're in is super serious. With Emperor Corrino (played by Mark Strong) now out of the picture and Natalya taking over, the Sisterhood is sitting ducks.

On Reddit, u/JadenSays24 put it pretty well:

“They lost control of the Sisterhood, the Imperium, and now Valya’s in hiding…what a bleak ending for Team Harkonnen.”

Valya's escape wasn't a walk in the park. Desmond Hart's on her tail, and he's got some juice from his nanotech that's making him scarier by the minute. And get this, he's spouting a story about living through being gobbled up by a sandworm.

Alison Schapker, Dune: Prophecy's mastermind, talked to TVLine:

“Arrakis has been exerting its pull...whether in the economics of spice trade or the psychological aspects of these visions [from] Desmond’s past.”

The intrigue and peril that Arrakis offers really set the tone for what's to come.

A lot of folks who are into sci-fi have been noticing some similarities between Dune: Prophecy and Interstellar, especially when it comes to the way space travel is shown in the story.

This one fan, u/ButterFingering, lost it over the visuals in the grand finale, saying,

“Seeing the guild heighliner warp space was very cool.”

Arrakis is the nexus of power and mystery

Arrakis is not just a backdrop; it's a living, breathing part of the tale of Dune: Prophecy. Schapker dropped a hint that when Valya goes back to Arrakis, we're going to find out some really interesting stuff about Desmond's history.

It's going to be like peeling back the layers of an onion, and we'll learn about the shady dealings that have to do with his thinking machines.

As Schapker put it,

“Valya is going to find out a lot more...back where Desmond emerged as an adversary.”

People on Reddit have been throwing around ideas about how important Arrakis is in Dune: Prophecy.

Some u/shinyorthworm suggested that the litany of fear, which is like a mantra for the Bene Gesserit, might be connected to Valya's personal journey.

“The litany is obviously on the verge of being written.”

Being buddies with an Atreides is a big no-no for someone with Harkonnen blood, so her alliance is causing all sorts of drama and making her question her loyalties. It's like she's stuck in the middle of a cosmic family feud.

Then, u/Hartzilla2007 chipped in with their own two cents:

“Worse for Valya, she is having to team up with an Atreides.”

We'll have to wait and see if teaming up with others will help her out or mess up what she's trying to do.

The Sisterhood's future looks pretty shaky on Dune: Prophecy after Episode 6

With the new Empress Natalya in power, things are changing for the Imperium. She's pointing fingers at Sister Francesca, played by Tabu, saying she's the one who's responsible for the Emperor's death. So, Natalya starts treating the Sisterhood like they're traitors.

This puts Valya, Ynez, and Keiran in a tough spot, as a Redditor noticed.

“The sisters have no safeguards against subterfuge.”

Dune: Prophecy Season 2 is set to dive into the aftermath of all those power battles we saw. And let's not forget about Desmond's thinking machines that some mystery person just handed to him. It's like a secret present that keeps on giving... but not in a good way. It's going to keep us guessing, that's for sure.

And as Schapker mentioned,

“It might take some time before [Valya] learns the truth about the other secret powers in play.”

The season finale raises questions about Tula, played by Olivia Williams, who happens to be Desmond's real mom. She's locked up, which makes us wonder how she'll fit into what happens next in Dune: Prophecy Season 2. The Sisterhood has more enemies, some of them they know, and some they don't.

Their lives now depend on making good friends and finding out secrets.
