TLC's popular reality show, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, has captivated viewers with its dramatic portrayal of multinational couples negotiating cultural barriers and relationship difficulties.
Season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days introduced viewers to Rayne Fernandez and Chidi Ikpeamaeze, whose turbulent transition from online romance to real-life drama had them riveted to their screens. However, their narrative took an unexpected turn when they were conspicuously absent from the season's reveal special.
According to an Instagram post by blogger Shabooty, in October 2024, Rayne explained on the social media platform, Threads, why fans would not see the pair work things out live on TV:
"LOL, me who has no guts singing in front of people was willing to since Chidi wanted to hear me sing so bad and I loved him," she wrote.
She continued:
"I was planning on performing 'Don't Forget About Us' by Mariah Carey at the tell all. Preferably without crying. But luckily we were both Uninvited due to all the negativity. As Well as that can't be done on television, finding out [at the] last minute. This was before all his hatred towards me started spilling out all over the internet. Just saying."
What happened with Rayne and Chidi on 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days?
Despite their limited screen time, Rayne and Chidi's relationship became one of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 7's most controversial storylines. Their segments primarily focused on Rayne's challenging adjustment to life in Nigeria and mounting tensions with Chidi's family members.
The couple's major conflict emerged around Chidi's commitment to abstinence before marriage – a revelation that created significant friction between them.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days' Chidi took to Instagram in September 2024 to address the situation, stating:
"The primary issue is the decision not to have s*x or share a bed until we are married. While this is a decision I have made, I want to make clear that I informed Rayne about this before she came to Nigeria."
He added that upon hearing this:
"She reacted with overwhelming anger, threatening to cancel her visit and later changing her mind."
The relationship reached its breaking point on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days during the October 6, 2024, episode, following a heated confrontation between Rayne and Chidi's sister. The situation escalated when Rayne accused Chidi of using marriage as a pathway to obtain a visa – an allegation he firmly denied during a candid confessional.
"If I really want the visa, I would have submitted. Which includes having s*x with Rayne," Chidi explained to producers.
He added:
"But I will not sell my soul for a visa. I wanted to marry her cause I love her deeply for five years."
The aftermath and life beyond 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days
The aftermath of their split on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days has played out publicly on social media, with Rayne particularly vocal about her experiences. In a recent Threads post on January 7, 2025, she wrote:
"No matter how much money was thrown at me, I would never put my friend or loved one in a position where something or somebody will hurt them. By the way I was treated in nigeria, You can clearly see who does not have a soul. Just a dark vibration of what he once was. Ever since that sister got involved, his life went down hill."
In perhaps her most revealing post about their final interaction, Rayne shared:
"As I was walking away on the last day in nigeria. The last word that I ever heard from his mouth were... I havent loved you in over two years, No guy would ever love you. Who would want somebody like you. And so on.. Then I got in the elevator."
With their absence from the tell-all special and continuing social media revelations, it seems the final chapter of Rayne and Chidi's story will unfold outside the confines of reality television, leaving viewers of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days to piece together the aftermath through their ongoing online exchanges.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is available to stream on TLC Go.
