Dr. Odyssey is a brand-new American medical drama directed by Ryan Murphy, Jon Robin Baitz, and Joe Baken. It will make its first onscreen debut on September 26, 2024, on ABC. The show, featuring Joshua Jackson, centers around a doctor who treats life-or-death emergencies aboard a luxury cruise ship accompanied by some pretty intense relationships.
Jon Robin Baitz spoke with EW about what viewers can expect from the upcoming series when it premieres, saying,
“People spend quite a bit of hard-earned money to go on these cruises, and there’s an element of fantasy fulfillment, but with fantasy fulfillment comes risk and danger.”

What is the plot of a new show with Joshua Jackson, Dr. Odyssey?
From the brilliant mind of Ryan Murphy comes Dr. Odyssey, a high-octane procedure featuring new doctor Max as he encounters unique medical crises amid cruise ship chaos where the staff works hard to solve the ongoing crisis in the ship.
Max has to weigh emergency medicine against the odds of working with a small but tight team. The program interweaves moments of life-and-death medical crises with the luxury of cruise life, therefore ensuring drama and adventure.
The series has an effective medical team that includes Philipa Sao, Sean Teale, and Don Johnson. Together, they try to save lives as they face isolation and unpredictability in the middle of the sea, miles away from the nearest shore.
