What happened in the previous episode of Dope Thief?
In episode 4 of Dope Thief, Mina’s complicated history with Jack was explored. Even though Jack was married, he and Mina had been intimate multiple times. He told Mina about his theory that liquid meth was the cartel’s solution to problems caused by COVID.
With border security tightened and operations disrupted, the cartel turned to biker gangs and third-party contractors like Randy Baum, a former meth cook who had suddenly resurfaced.
Meanwhile, Ray and Manny received the severed head of a pawn shop owner they used to trade with. This was a warning that anyone connected to them was in danger. Knowing they were being hunted, they hid in a motel while Ray secretly kept watch on their house through surveillance cameras.
One night, he spotted a suspicious car circling his neighborhood. Realizing it was the same car that had chased him earlier, he placed a tracker on it. The signal led him to a remote base that seemed unguarded.
He called Son, who introduced him to Cyrus, a so-called problem solver. However, Cyrus was a reckless man who launched an attack without a plan. They were ambushed by snipers who killed much of their force, and Ray and Manny barely escaped with their lives.
Manny was overwhelmed by guilt and heartbreak. He considered ending his life with a grenade, but Ray talked him out of it. Meanwhile, the DEA sets a trap, using Michelle to lure Ray in. Though he spotted the agents just in time, his trust in Michelle was broken.
