"Don't take it for granted": RuPaul's Drag Race's reigning queen Nymphia Wind passes on wisdom to Season 17 finalists

Grand Finale for RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 is all set to premiere on Friday, April 18, 2025. Ahead of the finale, the previous season winner, Nymphia Wind, shares her wisdom with the current season finalists. It includes Jewels Sparkles, Onya Nurve, Lexi Love, and Sam Star.

In her April 16, 2025, The Wrap interview, reigning queen Nymphia Wind shared advice for the upcoming queen who will be revealed soon. Nymphia will be there while crowning the new RuPaul's Drag Race queen with the crown and the scepter.

"Wear it with pride, obviously, and just have the most fun for your reigning year. Nothing's going to last forever, so just really be in the moment and just enjoy every second of it and don’t take it for granted," shared Nymphia Wind.

Soon, fans will witness a new RuPaul's Drag Race queen crowned from four finalists. They are Jewels Sparkles, Onya Nurve, Lexi Love, and Sam Star. While one will be announced as the winner, the queen will receive a crown and the scepter.

Sixteenth season winner, Nymphia Wind, opened up and shared a few words of wisdom for the upcoming queen. She advised that whoever wins should "wear" the crown with pride and that nothing "lasts forever." She added not to take it for granted."

She stated that the last year, after being crowned the queen, has been so "unreal." Every week, she was flown "everywhere," and she didn't have time to "chill" or even "feel" everything:

"I feel like this last year was so unreal. I was flown everywhere every week, so there wasn’t really any time for me to chill and really feel everything."

Reflecting on the year she had, Nymphia stated that it was so "crazy."

"So this year, especially coming up to the finale, it's just like, Oh my god, I actually won 'Drag Race!' It's so crazy, like, it actually just hit me that I won, so I'm just grateful for everything that has happened and having the opportunity to go everywhere and see everyone. And, you know, having the money and resources to now afford more dramatic looks, that's always a plus," she added.

Nymphia also talked about the recently released RuPaul's Drag Race Live! Untucked Season 2. She mentioned fans can expect "more yellow, more buffoonery" and "just a fun time" from the show.

In addition to crowning the new queen on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 Grand Finale, fans will also witness one more iconic event. Liza Minnelli will receive the Giving Us Lifetime Achievement Award.
