As seen in Ted Lasso Season 1, Rebecca Welton gets out of a toxic marriage as it gives her nothing but stress. Her traumatic experience with Rupert injected Rebecca with rage and bitterness, which led her to hire Ted. However. she gradually learned to find happiness and began to find a new love interest.
Throughout the series, Rebecca Welton had a few romantic connections with men, one of whom was the AFC Richmond's youngest player Sam Obisanya. Despite their age gap, Rebecca found interest in Sam, but her role as the team's owner complicated their relationship.

Co-creator Brendan Hunt participated in the Ask Me Anything Session on Reddit, where he explained why Ted and Rebecca didn't fall in love. Ryan wrote:
"They are soulmates. That does not require romance."
Hunt explained that Ted and Rebecca are indeed soulmates, but they don't require a romantic relationship. They have a strong friendship and their humorous interactions in the TV series make their bond even more special.
