Outer Banks concluded its season 4 part 2 with an ending that shocked fans. The fourth installment of the Netflix series came to a close with the death of JJ (Rudy Pankow), who got stabbed by his father.

JJ died in Morocco, surrounded by his friends, and the Pogues members vowed his revenge. Another important member of the group, Pope, found himself in legal trouble in Outer Banks Season 4.

Pope Heyward (Jonathan Daviss) has been part of Outer Banks since the show premiered in 2020. He is known as the:

"brains of the operation."

Pope is a highly valued member of the team of a downtrodden group of teens known as Pogues. As he joins John B (Chase Stokes) and Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) in their treasure-hunting expeditions at the show's beginning, Pope has an exit plan ready since he was one of the few lower-class kids who successfully secured a scholarship.

Does Pope end up in jail in Outer Banks Season 4?

Pope does get threatened with the chances of ending up in jail in season 4 but, fortunately, has not ended up there, as shown at the end of this season.

Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2 has been a rollercoaster for Pope as the second part of the season opens with Pope taking the blame for the actions of Pogues, which leads to his arrest.

As the team tries to lose some officers after them, Pope tackles one of the cops to distract another one who has a gun pointed at JJ. Pope ends up in the clutches of the local police, and season 4 episode 7 sees him awaiting trial.

Waiting for the verdict, Pope worries about his future, and it becomes clear that whatever he had done in the past with the Pogues did not ruin his plan of ultimately leaving Outer Banks; this trial, if not in his favor, would certainly do.

However, things are not as bad because he gets a deal. Instead of jail time, he is asked to enlist in the Marines, giving him a chance to start fresh, leaving his friends behind.

While it seems like a fair enough offer, Pope knows it is not possible for him to leave the Pogues behind. Therefore, in episode 8, he has a panic attack while he is on his way to enlist in the military.

He then runs away, making his way to the Pogues, who are already waiting for him in a nearby boathouse. The team then breaks his electronic monitoring ankle and steals a boat to get away before the authorities arrive.

However, this does not ensure Pope’s freedom, as episode 9 sees Pope almost getting arrested again. Deputy Shoupe corners him in this episode, and though the officer has his handcuffs ready, he cannot arrest Pope again.

Shoupe also realizes that Chandler Groff was behind the murder of Hollie Robinson, the local realtor, and not the Pogues, contrary to what Groff wanted him to believe.

This is Pope’s last encounter with law enforcement throughout season 4, meaning he is not in jail when the season ends.

Outer Banks can be streamed on Netflix.
