The Recruit premiered on December 16, 2022, on Netflix with an action-packed story of Noah Centineo's Owen Hendricks, a newly recruited CIA lawyer. The spy adventure focuses on Owen’s professional and Personal journeys as he faces several challenges while working for the CIA.

His personal life is the one that he has suffered the most due to his life-threatening job, mainly his relationship with Hannah, played by Fivel Stewart. In season 2 of The Recruit, Owen finally tries to push her away to make sure she is not entangled in those life-threatening situations that Owen finds himself in. Hannah appears as a recurring character in both seasons and does not die.

More on this in our story.

Does Hannah die in The Recruit? Character's fate, explored

Fivel Stewart’s Hannah was Owen’s ex-girlfriend, whom he broke up with before season 1 of The Recruit had taken place. In season 1, Hannah was still his roommate while he was dating Amelia.

However, they still cared about each other, as we had seen Hannah travelling to Europe, first to Geneva, due to being terrified of Owen’s safety, as she thinks he might be in trouble. She is informed by Violet and later Amelia that Owen was safe, but she still insisted on waiting for him.

Later, she follows him and goes to Prague after an anonymous text informs her that Owen is going to Prague. After killing Lev to save Max’s life, Owen decides to quit the CIA as he is unable to come to terms with killing someone, and calls Hannah to meet him.

However, just as we thought they would both be together again, Owen is kidnapped, right in front of Hannah, before they can even talk to each other. We see Owen getting kidnapped, but Hannah is not harmed and is alive at the end of season 1.

Hannah’s fate in The Recruit Season 2

In season 2 of The Recruit, we see Hannah move on from Owen and begin dating someone else. However, that does not sever the connection between the two as her new boyfriend, Jae, ends up being an NIS agent who began seeing her just to get intel on Owen.

After she gets in trouble due to Jae kidnapping her, Owen asks Amelia to save her. Owen later tries to push her away from him, after Lester asks him to never contact Hannah, as being with him always puts her life in danger.

While talking to Deadline, the show’s creator, Alexi Hawley, also talked about Owen’s decision to finally let Hannah go. He said:

"In Season 2, he is trying to grow up. He does try and go through official channels early with Lester rather than winging it. The moment with Hannah really is closing the door. Lester says it in a harsh way, but he needed to show Hannah how harsh this world that he’s in is, to push her away."

At the end of season 2, Hannah does not die, but her relationship with Owen has suffered. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after two seasons, so we won’t be able to know what would have happened to Owen and Hannah’s story in the future.
