The most recent episode of 9-1-1 started off as usual, with the time of the year coinciding with Halloween being one of the busiest for the 118. Hen and Chimney are the first responders to a routine accident when all of a sudden Chimney spots Jee-Yun and Mara amidst the crowd of onlookers and is distressed.
Hen is apprehensive of Karen being injured in the accident when to her horror she and the others discover Denny violently pinned against a house by a car after the driver lost control and crashed. For a while, it did seem that Denny's life was hanging in the balance. Here's everything we know about the episode.
What happened to Denny in 9-1-1 Season 8 episode 5?
The episode establishes at the outset that the first responders to an emergency, such as the members of the fire station 118, do not usually enjoy festivities with their family or loved ones.
They are continually at the beck and call of emergency wherever it may strike. The Halloween days are particularly busy for the crew as they are seen attending to a man whose head has swollen like a pumpkin.
On the other hand, Karen takes Jee-Yun, Denny and Mara on a trip promising candy and an evening full of mirth. However, the mood quickly turns dire as Denny is soon pinned down against a wall by a car. The driver of the car was chasing a gang of pranksters before his wheels swerved and he crashed into the house.
Once Hen and Chimney respond to the emergency, the firefighters swing into swift action. By virtue of the combined efforts of the entire team, a makeshift roof joist is built into action to remove the vehicle from its position. Denny is then rescued and an in-field blood transfusion is conducted on him.
For a while it seems as though all is lost when the team is unable to detect Denny's pulse. Hen goes to the extent of performing desperate chest compressions. Nevertheless, it is a relief to know that Denny eventually comes around.
Denny's character details from 9-1-1
According to 9-1-1 Wiki, Denny was born in 2010 when his biological parents met each other in rehab. During the first season of 9-1-1, following his birth, his biological mother Eva signed away her custody to her ex-lover, who adopted Denny. Hen and Karen Wilson were Denny's new parents.
Later when Eva was released from jail she filed for Denny's custody because she thought that would make Hen live with her, and also since Eva was jealous of the relationship between Hen and Karen. During the sixth season, Denny's biological father Nathaniel showed up for Eva's plans to sue Hen. Eva then unexpectedly suffers from a drug overdose and is saved by Hen, but sent back to prison once again.
By season 6, Denny is growing up rapidly and wishes to explore his horizons. He is in contact with Nathaniel with whom he shares a deep bond.
