Invincible Season 3 recently came to a rousing conclusion. The end of Invincible Season 3 was marked by a pitched battle between Mark Grayson and Conquest, after Mark had to fight several evil versions of his own self that had spawned from alternate realities. Following the finale, there was a lot of speculation about the fate of Mark's other Deborah, Debbie Grayson, on Invincible Season 3.

Debbie Grayson didn't die in Invincible Season 3. On the othe hand, the comics from which the show has been adapted don't explicity mention the cause of her death, hinting that she likely passed away owing to natural causes.

Here's everything that we know.

Invincible Season 3: Debbie's fate on the show and in the comics, explored

At one point during the third season of Invincible, Debbie's life was indeed in danger after an evil version of Mark attacked her home. She was saved by the foresight of being with Paul while the attack happened. She eventually took a secondary role in the narrative and witnessed the showdown between Mark and Conquest. While visiting Mark at the hospital, she expressed remorse for him having gone down the road of being a superhero.

On the other hand, Debbie's fate in the original comics seemingly is a bit different. The comics indicate that Debbie reunited with her husband Nolan, who had once betrayed her. After Nolan passed away, Debbie concerned herself with raising Mark's son Marky while Mark was busy fighting his own battles. Debbie eventually passed away at an older age.

Robert Kirkman opens up about Season 3 finale

Creator Robert Kirkman recently spoke about the third season's finale in an exclusive interview with Variety. When asked about the epic battle between Mark and Conquest, Kirkman remarked:

"We call it the Monaco sequence, where Conquest rakes Mark across the beach and city. It was supposed to be an advancement of the subway sequence. When I was writing that episode, I was very keenly aware that Nolan fight had become a high-water mark of the series and I wanted to try to elevate things as much as I could. We were trying to bring a new flavor to the series as well. Conquest is a much more brutal Viltrumite than Nolan. The Monaco sequence was a way to pay homage to the Nolan fight."

Kirkman was also asked about the participation of Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks on the show, to which he replied:

"Well, it’s funny because we just thought Aaron Paul was perfect for Powerplex and that Jonathan Banks was perfect for Brit. It didn’t even occur to us that they’re going to be in scenes together and it’ll be a “Breaking Bad” reunion. It’s always just a goal of casting the best actor for the role and sometimes these things happen by accident."

Invincible Season 3 is exclusively available on Amazon Prime Video.
