Fans have been debating the possibility of Robert Pattinson being integrated into the DC Universe or DCU. Questions regarding whether his portrayal of Batman in The Batman series will cross over into James Gunn's DCU or not have sparked excitement and speculation. The season finale of Creature Commandos may have subtly addressed this ongoing discussion.

Key information comes in episode 7, The Very Funny Monster, and also with a short appearance in episode 6, which is crucial to understanding Batman's timeline within the DCU. It states that Batman, as the DCU's Dark Knight, must have been on duty for more than 15 years.

Therefore, he must have already had extensive experience, meaning that is an older version of Batman. Therefore, this time cannot match Pattinson's young Batman, who has been fighting crimes for two years.

Adding credence to the theory that Pattinson's Batman will stay within Matt Reeves' standalone "Batmanverse" is a confirmation from the director of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Andy Muschietti, that each film has a separate continuity.

Batman's cameo in Creature Commandos

Creature Commandos Episode 6, Priyatel Skelet, includes a brief yet important cameo of Batman. Batman is seen silhouetted, apparently taking down Dr. Phosphorus, a member of Task Force M. The appearance is short, but the connection to the larger DCU narrative is vital.

The silhouette of Batman in this cameo is more akin to the classic blue and gray suit, which is a visual departure from the black suit that Pattinson's Batman wore in The Batman. This stylistic choice suggests a different version of Batman than what is seen in Reeves' darker, grounded universe. It is more in line with the comic-inspired vision James Gunn has expressed for his DCU.

A 15-year Batman timeline in the DCU

The most revealing clue comes from Episode 7, The Very Funny Monster. During a mission in Pokolistan, Dr. Phosphorus, whose body is engulfed in radioactive flames, mentions not being touched for 15 years. This detail provides insight into the timeline of his origin, which likely occurred after his encounter with Batman.

This 15-year timeline would mean that the Batman in the DCU has been active for more than a decade, thus making him an experienced vigilante. In case Batman: The Brave and the Bold features an established Bat family, then it is further proof of the need for a more experienced Batman.

This is a far cry from Pattinson's version, where Bruce Wayne is still young and is still developing his persona as Gotham's protector in The Batman.

What this means for Robert Pattinson's Batman

Although fans wanted Robert Pattinson's Batman to join the interconnected DCU, there are a few reasons why that is unlikely. Matt Reeves' The Batman places the Dark Knight in his second year of crime-fighting and focuses on the early struggles and development. This timeline doesn't match up with the veteran Batman teased in Creature Commandos.

Batman: The Brave and the Bold director Andy Muschietti confirmed that his film takes place in a different universe than Reeves' one. Creature Commandos also suggests an older, experienced Batman, already set as a mentor and leader in the DCU. That would be in line with Gunn's strategy to construct unique stories while leaving the darker, standalone "Batmanverse" of Reeves' to continue on its own.

Creature Commandos season finale offers subtle yet telling hints about the future of Batman in James Gunn's DCU. Through a brief cameo and a timeline implication, it paints a picture of a seasoned Dark Knight who has been active for at least 15 years. This direction strongly suggests that Robert Pattinson's Batman will remain part of Matt Reeves' standalone universe rather than integrating into the broader DCU.

Set against the grand foundation of Creature Commandos as the starting point for the new DCU and exciting projects such as Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Gunn is preparing to establish a cohesive yet flexible cinematic universe. It will be interesting to see how fans engage with the interconnected DCU and the independent storytelling of Reeves' The Batman series.
