Netflix released Love is Blind Season 8 Episode 7 on February 21, 2025. One of the recently aired episodes of the social experiment featured engaged couples. It included Sara-Ben, Monica-Joey, Lauren-David, Virginia-Devin, and Taylor-Daniel.
After reaching Honduras for the experiment's next phase, honeymoon, Joey and Monica were among the engaged couples. While enjoying their dinner date, the male cast member opened up about his OCD (Obsessed-Compulsive Disorder.)
In front of them was an off-centered fireplace. Seeing that, Joed asked Monica:
"Does that bug you? The fireplace...Just curious. I think, like, the reason my OCD stuff happened was almost like, um, like a way to control something that, like, because my life was very chaotic."
Love is Blind Episode 7: Joey and Monica discuss his OCD and how long he has been feeling that
Love is Blind stars Joey and Monica were enjoying their dessert dishes when he noticed the fireplace. Seeing the random placement of the fireplace, which was not in the center, Joey, because of his OCD, asked Monica if she felt the same.
Monica, who hadn't noticed that until that moment, replied that she didn't notice it until he pointed it out and that she probably wouldn't have noticed if he hadn't told her about it.
Sharing about why he noticed it, Love is Blind star opened up:
"It was like, 'Okay, this is something I can control to...' That's my, like, theory behind it. It always got worse. Like, when something happens. If my sister went into the hospital or if, like, there was some type of added stress, or maybe it was my parents fighting."
He talked about his urge for everything to be counted; he further stated that many things from his routine were affected.
Opening up, Joey mentioned:
"So, like, walking, my steps I took, um, how many times I, like, lifted up a spoon, how many times I, like, drank something, how many times I, like, picked something up. Everything was done in, like, a numbered way. Or things had to be, like, touched a certain way. So, like, my index finger always had to touch an object last, or if I walked out of door, it always had to be out with my right foot."
Listening to Joey, Monica asked him if that was "involuntary" or if he was "hyper-aware" of everything. He replied that he knew it, but "weirdly," he had the "urge" to do it anyway.
After learning about that, Love is Blind star Monica mentioned that it was "just letting his mind" - spin. Joey laughed at her description of the situation and responded that it was the "best way" of putting it - that it would be "spinning." She mentioned overthinking and spinning on it, to which he agreed.
Further in their conversation, she asked Joey how he managed that.
"At first, they were like, 'Maybe we should get you on medication,' but I was like, 'No, I wanna try to do this on my own first. And see if I can overcome it,'" said Joey.
He added that it was "weird" because he was young back then. Love is Blind star recalled getting exposure therapy "in terms of psychology" helped him. He added that he "forced" himself to do it. She stated it would have been "a lot" to change his "whole way of thinking."
Joey mentioned it was "weird" and that he was a "weirdo." Seeing him laughing, she replied that they were all "weirdos" in "some" way - and they both laughed on it, hard.
