The Doctor's iconic machine and spacecraft, the TARDIS, keep popping up the date May 24, hinting at the major catastrophe that has happened either on or after the date. Belinda originally left Earth on May 24, so the Doctor’s inability to return after that date implies the timeline of the Earth has been blocked or is under threat. They also get to know that the machine is not malfunctioning, but it's the Earth that's off-limits. Amidst this panicky situation, Belinda gets worried if she will ever be able to meet her family, and the doctor, being optimistic, assures her that they will safely reach home soon.

But Belinda senses that even the doctor is not completely sure, and she calls him out for that. The scene is crucial and sets up the stage for the narrative points of the upcoming episodes, answering what happened on Earth. Is this some glitch, or is a significant event attached?

When the Doctor learned that the name of the planet is Midnight, he realized they’ve landed on the same planet he visited in the classic episode “Midnight,” where a formless entity infected the passengers of a tour shuttle. This entity is described as black and tends to connect to a host. If someone walks behind the host, they die. Moreover, even killing the host won't work, as they can then jump onto the killer. Belinda remains compassionate and level-headed, trusting Aliss even as others don’t.

The mysterious nature of the entity makes it more horrifying, and when the team suffers chaos with Cassio not listening, Shaya tricks him into standing behind Aliss, who is currently the host, and this terminates him, ending the chaos once and for all. As Aliss is not bonded with the creature, Shaya agrees to leave her behind and suggests the team return, but Doctor and Belinda refuse.

The doctor comes up with an idea— if the creature kills what's behind it, what if what's behind it is itself? They create a reactive object with the help of mercury, and as a result, the creature is forced to release her.

However, the episode of Doctor Who ended, further creating a frightening mystery about whether the creature actually escaped when one of the soldiers looks nervously behind Mo, as if he sees something. This hints at the behavior of the creature of hiding behind hosts.
