Netflix's The Night Agent, the action thriller that debuted in 2023, follows the story of a night operator, Peter, who gets involved in an international conspiracy.

Throughout Season 1, Peter has a romantic connection with Rose, a young tech entrepreneur, who gets involved with Peter because of her brilliant hacking skills. However, as Peter moved on to a new mission in Season 2, their relationship came to a halt in the Season 1 finale.

In Season 2, Rose is reunited with Peter when she thinks he is in danger in New York, and they team up against Viktor Bala's international conspiracy. Despite working together, Rose is kidnapped in the finale, and Peter has to save her.

In the Season 2 finale, it is shown that Peter and Rose do not end up together as Peter asks her to stay away from him because it could be dangerous for her.

More on Peter and Rose's relationship in The Night Agent Season 2 in our story.

Peter's line of work hinders his relationship with Rose in The Night Agent Season 2

After Rose used her expert hacking skills and tracked Peter down in New York, the pair was back together in action for another terrorist mission. While they were not officially back together, Rose was the only one Peter could trust in his dangerous line of work.

But, during Markus' attack on the UN, Jacob Monroe's men kidnap Rose to gain leverage against Peter, which is the first indication that the couple might not end up together in The Night Agent Season 2.

While Peter manages to get hold of Rose's location, he has to turn against his country because Jacob demands a confidential file from the UN in exchange for Rose's location.

In The Night Agent Season 2 finale, Peter hands over the file to Jacob and successfully saves Rose. But during their conversation in the lobby, he asks Rose not to follow him and wait for him anymore, and she agrees, finally putting a halt to their relationship.

In an interview with Netflix's Tudum, The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan discussed Peter-Rose's last conversation:

“That’s something an unselfish person who really cares about Rose would say. Which makes it tragic in an almost Romeo and Juliet kind of way. ‘I love you too much to be with you’ — it’s important to honor that sacrifice.”

Gabriel Basso who plays Peter also added:

“Rose and Peter have been through a lot — but Luciane and I have been too. “Is this a healthy relationship? He’s put Rose now in certain positions to lie, to do things that she doesn’t agree with. And then on top of that, he’s putting her at risk. So there’s this heaviness of, ‘Is this fair? Is [it] selfish for me to want you around?’ But they still definitely have love and support.”

Considering Basso's remarks and how his character ended up in The Night Agent Season 2 finale, it seems this was the end of Peter's relationship with Rose. After Catherine employed Peter as a double agent to gather intel on Monroe, it is unlikely the makers will revisit Peter's relationship with Rose.

Still, nothing is confirmed as of yet, and only future seasons will tell what fate Peter-Rose's relationship is headed toward.
