Based on the television show, the well-known comic series Rick and Morty was developed by Zac Gorman, Kyle Starks, and Alex Firer. With 60 issues produced between 2015 and 2020, the comic was published by Oni Press.

Prior to becoming the main protagonists of the TV show, the series started introducing themselves to Rick and Morty from a different universe and vice versa. The comics, which often make reference to episodes of the show, show a variety of adventures and alternate worlds.

The Rick and Morty comics do not closely reflect the TV show's timeline. They started with alternative versions of the characters from other dimensions. Later, they included recognizable characters and events from the program, enhancing the plot with new adventures and elements not seen on television earlier.

Usually, the comics readers take a closer look at the characters' chaotic world and are introduced new experiences, universes, and different histories. They were initially written by Zac Gorman and then by Kyle Starks.

Initially, the comics focused on a version of Rick and Morty from a separate dimension (C-132), allowing for fresh adventures follow and which nit be that did not conflict with the TV show's premise. This creative technique provided the comics a distinct vibe because it was not based on the show's events or continuity. Instead, it investigated other versions of the characters, providing readers with fascinating new adventures.

The comics introduced the well-known C-137 Rick and Morty from the television series as the series went on. By volume 3, the plots began to resemble the TV programs we saw more closely. For instance, the comics' Head-Space storyline builds upon what viewers see in the series by providing them with additional material and backstories that weren't discussed on screen.

After a hiatus, the series resumed in 2023. By incorporating backup tales that concentrated on alternate Ricks and Mortys from various realities, the series also experimented with structure. This kept the comics interesting and novel, introducing new characters and scenarios in each issue.
