"Didn't you learn anything?" Former BBC The Traitors star Ivan Brett comments on Yin's 'murder' 

A playful feud has erupted in The Traitors universe as season one contestant Ivan Brett took to social media to comment on Yin's dramatic elimination from the show's third series. Brett posted after Yin became the first contestant to be 'murdered' by the Traitors in the 2025 series:

"Oh Yin. Did you learn nothing from me? If you've a shred of qualification to do well in this game, HIDE IT. Feeling gutted for her."

The incident has sparked conversation among fans, particularly given the parallel between Yin's early exit and Brett's own experience on the show, where he was eliminated in episode five of the first season. The BBC hit show, which premiered its third series on January 1, continues its tradition of psychological warfare as contestants compete for a substantial cash prize while trying to identify the Traitors among them.

Yin’s swift exit from The Traitors

When host Claudia Winkleman selected this season's Traitors – financial investigator Armani (27), retired opera singer Linda (70), and call center manager Minah (29) – few could have predicted their first victim would be the analytically-minded Yin. The communications professional's keen observation skills and questioning nature seemingly made her too dangerous to keep around, leading to her becoming the first casualty of the season.

Following her elimination, Yin revealed she had entered the castle with a carefully crafted strategy. "Absolutely I did," she explained,

"I tried to meet as many people as I could within reason. I wanted to gather information about them, observe what they were saying about themselves, what they were not saying."

Her methodical approach extended beyond just studying her fellow contestants:

"I also went to every room in the castle and tried to observe private speaking areas. So my environment and the people were analysed."

Yin had even identified potential allies early in the game, noting,

"There were a couple of players who stood out immediately – one of those was Dan, just because we had some exposure together on the train and I clocked in the first few hours that he could be an amazing ally to have for the entire rest of the game."

Brett's commentary comes from a place of personal experience. During his time on the show's first season, he faced a similar fate when magician Tom Elderfield convinced the other contestants that Brett was a Traitor, leading to his banishment despite being a Faithful. His social media post suggests that Yin's analytical approach may have been too obvious, making her a clear target for elimination.
