The long-running animated show South Park is returning for its 27th season on July 9, 2024. The new season looks just as wild and unpredictable as ever, featuring plane crashes, a war with Canada, and Diddy traveling to space.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the show, are known for using humor to address real-world issues. This season, it seems like they will be making fun of politics, celebrity scandals, and even global conflicts.

The first trailer for the new season starts in an unusual way. Instead of the usual animation, it begins with real-life video clips of an empty swing set and part of an airplane wing. The words "The acclaimed drama returns" appear on the screen, making it look like a serious TV show.

But then, everything changes. The screen switches back to South Park's usual cartoon style, and chaos begins. Butters is in charge of an air traffic control center, but he has no idea what he's doing. Planes crash behind him as he panics and shouts:

“Oh crap, we’re all gonna get fired!”

A war with Canada seems to be happening. The trailer shows intense action, hinting that the U.S. and Canada are not getting along. Diddy is floating in space. Yes, you read that right—the rapper appears in the trailer, and no one knows why.

As soon as the trailer was released, fans flooded social media with funny reactions. Here are some of the best ones:

“South Park starting a war with Canada? It was only a matter of time.”
“Diddy in space? This show has officially lost its mind (in the best way possible).”
“Butters as an air traffic controller is the most dangerous thing I’ve ever seen.”

The show has always been great at getting people talking, and this season is no different.

Fans commented on even more hilarious things, like

One of the strangest moments in the trailer is Diddy floating in space. No explanation is given, but knowing South Park, it will probably be a joke about his real-life legal problems.

Diddy is currently facing a $30 million lawsuit for sexual assault. Fans are wondering if the show will directly address the lawsuit or just make random jokes about him. People online have already started making fun of it. One fan joked:

“Finally, a show where Diddy’s parties look cheap.”
