In an interview with a prominent YouTube channel, James Gunn had already hyped up the fourth episode of Creature Commandos. In that interview, the DC Studios co-chairman opined that the episode “Chasing Squirrels”, which was its fourth one is one of the saddest things he had written. The episode clarifies that Weasel is innocent and we can see why he said those words.
There was already some excitement regarding this episode before it was released on Max. Upon reading the synopsis, people realized that it was about Weasel. It read:
"The Creature Commandos return home in hopes of understanding Circe's motivations. While his lawyer tries to coax him for answers, Weasel reflects on the events that landed him in Belle Reve in the first place."
Is the Weasel from Creature Commandos guilty?
We first meet The Weasel in the opening scenes of Gunn's 2021 live-action movie The Suicide Squad, canon to the DCU. In a with Variety on 20th December 2024, Gunn said that he knew that The Weasel was always innocent and did not kill anyone from the start. The fourth Creature Commandos episode reveals that not only was Weasel a victim of misunderstanding.
Furthermore, while Weasel is accused of murdering 27 children there were only eight, and all of them were his friends. One fateful afternoon, while playing with kids, an old man mistakenly thinks that Weasel is attacking the kids and follows him and his friends inside the school. He calls the cops on Weasel and has a gun in his hand.
He accidentally, starts a fire, causing an explosion and killing him and seven other kids. Only one girl survives and Weasel tries his best to save her. However, the cops repeatedly shoot him, causing an injury and dropping the girl. Wooden logs fall on the girl, killing her and the Weasel is arrested. No one except for his lawyer Elizabeth Bates thinks that Weasel is innocent.
What's in store for The Weasel from Creature Commandos in the future?
In the next episode titled The Iron Pot, Weasel and the rest of the Creature Commandos or Task Force "M" will be seen returning to Pokolistan. The team under the leadership of The Bride, is here on a top-secret mission assigned by Amanda Waller. The said mission is to kill Princess Ilana Rostovic, who according to Circe's vision is responsible for the destruction of the world in the future. There are also several telepaths across the DC Universe, and probably, one of them will help him clear his name.
