After almost two years of wait, Prime Video is all set to release the highly anticipated Invincible Season 3 with no mid-season breaks, and more action. The excitement for the third season has heightened after the release of its first poster which tells a lot about the plot.

Or, it just gave fans a huge spoiler we will explore here. The first official poster came after the release of the Invincible Season 3 teaser, in which Mark Grayson, now 19 years old, met Cecil Stedman in a café when the director of the Global Defense Agency (GDA) suddenly showed up.

Cecil expresses dissatisfaction with Mark due to his extended break from crime-fighting and tells him to prepare for the looming Viltrumite threat. The argument did sound minor, but after looking at the poster, the dynamics between Cecil and Mark are going to take an unexpected turn.

So, if unraveling twists and dissecting spoilers is your thing, don't miss the chance to dive deep into the intrigue!

Invincible Season 3 poster hints at Mark Vs. Cecil: An unexpected conflict

A huge conflict between Mark and Cecil in Invincible Season 3 is what no fan saw coming. While the Viltrumite threat seems to be a big concern in the upcoming season, the poster just revealed that a major fallout between the teenage superhero vigilante and Cecil will take center stage.

As seen in the teaser, Cecil is worried about Mark's seriousness about the upcoming threat and declares that he will oversee Mark’s training himself. A training that Mark thinks has "so much stuff" but won't refuse to take. Then what causes a huge conflict between the two?

Mark and Cecil have previously also clashed in the earlier season, but nothing looked but nothing seems as brutal as the conflict erupting into a fight in Season 3. As seen in the poster, Mark is seen brutally attacking Cecil and is drenched in his blood.

While the exact reason for the full-blown fallout between Mark and Cecil hasn't been disclosed, one possible cause might be Mark's half-brother Oliver. In the comics, Oliver brings intense moral dilemmas and challenges to Mark’s loyalty.

So, if Invincible Season 3 follows the same path, fans might understand why the superhero turned against the director of the Global Defense Agency (GDA). Their conflict might be deeply personal instead of professional, leading Mark to take a brutal step.

What did Robert Kirkman tease about Invincible Season 3?

While fans are curious about how Mark and Cecil will turn against each other, Invincible Season 3 will also offer them a deep dive into the director's backstory. This will allow viewers to understand Cecil better as a person as his story in the previous season revolved around his position in the GDA.

While the plot of the upcoming Season 3 remains under wraps, Robert Kirkman teased some insights during an interview in April 2024. The creator of the Invincible series said:

"I don’t want to reveal exactly what we’re doing. There’s a lot of great stuff with Cecil Stedman."

He also mentioned that:

"The relationship between Mark and Eve is evolving in some really exciting way. It was very important to us in Season 2 to show that this is the Mark Grayson-Invincible show; it’s not the Omni-Man show."

Kirkman explained that Mark is the focus of the show and not his father Nolan Grayson (aka Omni-Man) whose presence was reduced in Season 2. However, being one of the beloved characters, Omni-Man will also return for the anticipated season.

These characters have been given life by notable stars from the entertainment industry. The star-studded voice cast includes Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson aka Invincible, J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, Sandra Oh voices Debbie Grayson, Mark Hamill is behind Art Rosenbaum, Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien, Zazie Beetz has lent her voice for Amber Bennett, and a few more.

Invincible Season 3 will arrive on Prime Video on February 6, 2024.
