No, Herrmann hasn’t left Chicago Fire. Chicago Fire's TV schedule for the rest of 2024 is coming to an end, with season 13 being capped off by an autumn finale airing on November 20. However, the rest of the show is full of drama, which sees Severide and Pascal teaming up, Violet and Carver's storyline, and Herrmann and Mouch studying for their officer's exam.
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 6 was all about Carver having a meltdown and Firehouse 51 discovering a cache of "ghost guns" during a call. Of course, some viewers started calling out for the missing Christopher Herrmann.
His absence wasn't explained in any sort of small detail, but the series hinted that fans need not be concerned about Herrmann’s absence as he is present in the background, preparing for his officer's exams.
The final scene of season 12 shows Chief Wallace Boden wanting Herrmann to be in charge of Firehouse 51. This is why fans expected the new season to continue the storyline from that point but the show introduces this new character, Chief Dom Pascal, and seems to suggest that Herrmann doesn't have the confidence to be in charge.

The fate of David Eisenberg's character Herrmann in Chicago Fire
In the pilot episode of season 13, the mystery of Dermot Mulroney's absence from the series Chicago Fire was solved when it was revealed that Herrmann happened to be ill just before the captain's test.
In an interview, David Eisenberg explained a little about Herrmann's future in the show. He said he was absent during the test because he hadn't prepared for the test nor was he confident about taking up the captain's position.
As a family man, Herrmann isn't naturally focused, but at the same time, he has low self-confidence. Although that’s not always the case, he's confident in his abilities and knows what's right which is why he knows to refrain when he is not mentally prepared.
Herrmann doesn't want to leave the fire station. He wants to retire there. It is not known if he will become the new Chief of Station 51, but we do know that Herrmann will not be leaving the show anytime soon.
Who is Christopher Herrmann in the Chicago Fire?
Some of us may know Chicago Fire’s Christopher Herrmann simply as the second shift commander of Engine 51. But fans of the show have known Herrmann over its 12-year run. Christopher Herrmann is a tall, strong, and experienced firefighter whose name has become synonymous with stability in the ever-changing landscape of Firehouse 51.
He has responded to countless rescue calls and seen many first responders come and go during his long tenure at Firehouse 51. As Molly's bartender, Herrmann knows the station like the back of his hand.
As one of the oldest members of Firehouse 51, he often assesses whether a new CFD candidate has what it takes to become a member of the firehouse's special team. When not fighting fires, he spends most of his time socializing with the locals as co-owner of Molly's Pub, One Chicago's hangout.
Can Chief Dom Pascal pose a threat to Christopher Herrmann?
As has already been mentioned, Herrmann and Mouch are sitting their exams to qualify as officers. With the exams coming so early in the season, fans of Chicago Fire wonder if Pascal would give up the reins of 51 when Herrmann passes his exam, or if Pascal might stay on, which would create some potential difficulties for both Mouch and Herrmann to move up the ladder at 51.
Chief Pascal's character has been loved by fans and he's won us over, but we'd be lying if we didn't say we're excited to see Herrmann take over as Chief especially after we expected it to happen by the beginning of season 13 as the season 12 finale hinted.
So it would not be wrong to say that the casting of Pascal will definitely cause some professional problems for Herrmann.
Fans of Chicago Fire can stream the show now streaming on Peacock.
