Nearly two whole decades later when Dexter first premiered, Dexter: Original Sin has given fans some long-waited answers regarding Harry Morgan’s debatable decision to separate Brian Moser from his younger brother, Dexter.

One of the major anonymities from the original series was why Harry—who took Dexter in—did not also take Brian in, leaving him in a psychiatric facility.

For years on end, it felt like Harry intentionally neglected Brian, but the spin-off series has cleared out the reason as to why did Harry this and what the actual reasoning behind Harry’s choice was.

Now with Dexter: Original Sin verifying that Brian later turned into the NHI Killer, the show dives deeper into his unsettling past while also emphasizing his early-on psychotic tendencies, violent upsurges, and his increasing fascination with Dexter.

This newly gained information reevaluates Harry’s choice, displaying that his decision was not just about abandoning Brian but rather a frantic attempt to safeguard his family.

Conflicting with what many fans thought, both Harry and Doris Morgan originally adopted both Brian and Dexter after the murder of their mother, Laura Moser.

Nevertheless, as Dexter: Original Sin discloses, the Morgans soon understood that Brian’s ordeal ran far deeper than they could have ever imagined/handled.

Brian had started to exhibit extremely alarming actions early on, which included:

* Making an effort to strangulate baby Debra

* Shattering a window in an intensely violent upsurge

* Physically assaulting Harry Morgan

While being faced with these issues that kept on amplifying, Harry and Doris made the distressing decision to give Brian back to state custody, trusting that he truly needed specialized and qualified psychiatric support that they were incapable of providing.

As Harry admits in Original Sin, Brian being such a traumatic character was extremely difficult for them to supervise, making it impossible to have him have an upbringing alongside Dexter.

While some fans argue that Harry could have gotten Brian some therapy or other substitute care options, Original Sin depicts this call as a requirement rather than just a thoughtless desertion.

Harry went to great lengths to try to give Brian a loving home before eventually realizing that the boy needed more professional help.

Brian’s Revenge: The Consequences of Separation

Regardless of the Morgans’ well-intentioned choice, Brian never forgives Harry for parting him away from Dexter. His distorted insight about neglect and abandonment led him to pursue vengeance on those he condemns for tearing him apart from his brother, Dexter.

Through Original Sin, Brian has been getting rid of everyone who is tied to taking him away from the Morgan home, including:

* His previous therapist

* His psychiatric nurse

* Barb, the social worker

With Brian’s brutal spree increasing, the series indicates that Harry Morgan could be next on his list.

Given Brian’s growing fixation with reunifying with his brother Dexter, he may see Harry as the last hindrance in their bitter family dynamic.

This dispute is projected to reach its peak in the season finale, possibly setting the stage for a final conflict between Brian and Harry.

Dexter: Original Sin has finally dismissed the mistaken belief that Harry Morgan gave away Brian right after Laura’s death.

Instead, the series discloses that Harry and Doris Morgan did adopt both of the kids, but Brian’s progressively violent behavior made it unmanageable for them to keep him at home.

Their choice to send him back to the state was not one of negligence but an essential step to shelter their family.
