Young Sheldon Season 7 ended on a bittersweet note, bidding goodbye to Lance Barber's George Cooper, the patriarch of the Cooper family.

Because of The Big Bang Theory canon, which also serves as the parent show to this spin-off, fans anticipated George's death following Season 7. But these anticipations also created rumors that did George from Young Sheldon die in real life?

To end these speculations for once and for all, George did not die in real life. However, his character died in the finale of the spin-off.

Since their showrunners already established the fact that the spin-off exists in the same universe as that of its parent show, fans were bracing for George's death.

While the show has deviated from some plotlines from TBBT like George's cheating, this is a canon event in Sheldon's life and could not have been skipped because of its multiple mentions in the original show.

The finale of the spin-off finally addressed George's death as the Cooper family finally gathered for George's farewell.

More on George's death in Young Sheldon and Cooper's future in our story.

Young Sheldon could not avoid George's death because of The Big Bang Theory canon

While the rumours that did George from Young Sheldon die in real life are not true, the character did die in the finale of this spin-off. Since the show's inception, fans were expecting to see many anecdotes that Sheldon shared in TBBT happen in real life.

The season earlier cleared another canon event in Sheldon's life and addressed George's cheating, which gave rise to his son's three-time knock policy, because he caught his father having sex with a blonde woman (when he entered his bedroom without permission).

It was finally shown that Sheldon misunderstood the blonde woman, who was actually Mary in a blonde wig and the couple were engaging in role-playing when he sees his father.

The finale finally addresses George's death as his colleagues inform the Coopers that he has passed away following a heart attack.

While Sheldon seems shocked and regretful over not spending enough time with his father, he is also detached because he still misunderstands him and is physically detached from the family.

Young Sheldon redeemed George's character in the finale

After the character of George was killed off on the show, the actor Lance Barber did attend his character's own funeral on the set, to allow some comic relief on the show's last day.

Actress Reagan Revord, who plays the role of Missy on the show revealed that Lance dressed up as 'Georgina', an old white-haired woman and attended his own funeral in a cameo on the spin-off.

The finale also featured Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik who reprised their roles as Sheldon and Amy respectively for the Young Sheldon finale.

After badmouthing his father for years, as old Sheldon (Parsons) recollects his memories to write his 'memoir', he finally addresses that his father was a good man. This completes George's arc and redeems his character on the show after how TBBT originally depicted him.

He was about to change jobs and his marriage was finally in a good place. This makes his death even more heartbreaking for the fans and the Cooper family.
