Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 has already premiered with two episodes and Charlie Cox reprises his role as the titular character alongside co-stars Jon Bernthal, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.

However, season 1 comes with a brutal plot twist as one of the pivotal comic characters, Foggy Nelson aka Franklin Nelson (played by Elden Henson) is killed off in an ambush by Bullseye, the MCU villain and assassin (portrayed by Wilson Bethel).

This culminated because one of Foggy's clients gave him up to the ruthless gunman. Soon after the development, Matt Murdock (in his red suit) is seen engaging in an intense face-off with the iconic antagonist outside Josie's Bar, where the entire incident takes place.

But as his close friend and legal associate, Foggy, takes his last breath, an infuriated Daredevil (who can sense his friend's fading heartbeat) makes an exception to his no-killing principle by throwing Bullseye off the roof of Josie's.

Dating back to the Marvel comics (issues 82 and 87), the FBI staged Foggy's death—he was supposedly killed in an encounter with prison inmates while visiting his imprisoned friend Murdock.

So, the question remains - will Foggy return in the MCU sequel Daredevil: Born Again as well after his character succumbed to his injuries? The latest Disney show might walk in the footsteps of a comic issue from long ago.

Killing Foggy Nelson off Daredevil: Born Again in the early hours of the show raises an obvious question in the minds of classic Marvel fans. Did Foggy fake his own death? Again? To answer that, let us have a glimpse of what happened in Daredevil #82 from February 2006.

Matt Murdock aka Daredevil was then imprisoned on criminal charges on his red-caped vigilance. Fogg Nelson went to see his lifelong friend and partner Murdock but was unfortunately attacked by a group of hot-headed prison inmates.

What appeared to be a unfortunate end for Foggy Nelson soon turned out to be a fake death; the big reveal came in Daredevil #87. It was then learned that FBI was at the helm of the entire incident and that Foggy was under their protection.

While Murdock sat in prison thinking his friend was no more (he even heard Foggy's heartbeats as they eventually slowed down), Foggy was with the FBI eventually recovering from the blows inflicted upon him.

Recently, per Variety, lead star Charlie Cox broke his silence on Foggy's early death on the show, saying:

"It's really hard — it’s sad. The good news is that it’s got to be iconic. We’re back with a new show, so you’ve got to be big, brave and bold. You’ve got to do something different and shake things up. So, likely, there has to be a casualty, and sadly it is Foggy."

Will Foggy be back in the upcoming episodes of Daredevil: Born Again? What we think of the much-loved character's return

Murdock's law associate and close friend Foggy's death in Daredevil: Born Again has brought down a shadow of distress among viewers. But for fans who have been following Marvel comics for quite sometime, it comes with less surprise.

However, his return in the upcoming episodes following a fake death revelation can happen and further plot points are being kept under wraps for obvious reasons. Per Variety, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane even mentioned in a statement, describing Foggy's death:

"This has ripple effects through the entire story."
