CBS’ long-running show Blue Bloods came to an end after its 14 seasons. Episode 18 of season 14, titled End of Tour, brought the story of the Regan family to its conclusion and one character’s concluding arc has rather surprised the fans.
It was speculated that Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan), one of the fan-favorite characters, will be dying in the Blue Bloods finale. However, that turns out to be false as Erin is not only alive but she also gets back with Jack Boyle (Peter Hermann), her ex-husband, as the couple decides to give their marriage another chance.
Erin’s happy ending came in the episode Entitlement, the penultimate episode of Blue Bloods Season 14. Let us now explore what happened to Erin in Blue Bloods in detail.
Did Erin die in Blue Bloods Season 14?
As already mentioned, Erin does not die in Blue Bloods Season 14. The show gives her a happy ending as she and her ex-husband Jack Boyle decide to get back together as a couple and give their marriage another chance.
However, one thing that seemed a little rushed and unexplained about this arc is that Jack did not appear in Blue Bloods post-Season 14 Episode 11. Therefore, this revelation of the couple's decision to get married again does not offer a background story that validates this decision.
It seems that most of their reconciliation happens off-screen and just the announcement makes it to the screen for the viewers to see. While it left a section of the fans unsatisfied with how their arc wrapped up in a rather rushed manner, it makes sense since the show had to end within the next episode and that meant the story could not have been concluded without rushing events a bit.
Who is Erin in Blue Bloods?
Erin Regan made her first appearance in the Blue Bloods pilot episode that aired on September 24, 2010. She has been an integral part of the show since then and a series regular.
The only daughter of Francis and Mary Regan, Erin is the Assistant District Attorney in New York County. While technically she works on the same side as her family, her character is portrayed as someone with deep respect for the law, and her views and uncompromising attitude towards justice have on some occasions led her to get into fights with her family.
Throughout the 14 seasons, Blue Bloods has seen the growth of Erin’s character, both professionally and personally. From dealing with a rebellious teenage phase to handling a broken marriage and then deciding to give that marriage another chance, Erin’s life was portrayed as quite eventful on the show.
Her professional life also remained full of growth and new opportunities where she often came across situations that tested her own moral boundaries and decision-making skills.
Blue Bloods can be streamed on Paramount+.
