Patrick Gibson starrer and the prequel to Showtime's iconic Dexter series, Dexter: Original Sin continues to excite fans about Dexter Morgan's early life, and his journey to becoming a serial killer vigilante. What sets him apart from typical killers is that Dexter adheres to the moral code taught by his adoptive father.
Since the original series, fans have been curious about Harry Morgan's (the adoptive father) connections to Dexter's sinister side. It was believed that Morgan's role in the serial killer's life was limited to forming the moral code.
However, Dexter: Original Sin Episode 5 "F Is For F**k-Up" has proved that Dexter’s adoptive father had a huge hand in shaping his behavior as a serial killer. Following the mistake during Mad-Dog's murder in the previous episode, Dexter had to quickly clean up the mess to avoid getting caught.
While he learned that he needed to plan better, he couldn't escape Harry's punishment in Episode 5. After escaping the scene, Dexter finds his adoptive father being furious over his carelessness and punishes him.
This highlights Harry Morgan's determination to train Dexer properly so that he transforms into a clever serial killer vigilante and does not get caught in such mistakes again. The next day, Harry heads to the station and finds that no evidence could link Dexter to the murder.

Dexter: Original Sin Episode 5 proves Harry Morgan's role in Dexter's early life
Since Dexter: Original Sin is about Dexter Morgan's early life and the people involved in his dark journey, the prequel was expected to explain Harry Morgan's role beyond making a moral code of Dexter. Thankfully, Episode 5 proved that Harry played a big role in ensuring that his adoptive son develops his dark passenger and turns into a vigilante serial killer.
The episode also featured flashback scenes about Harry's past, when his wife Doris was alive. Unlike, Harry, Dexter's adoptive mother wanted him to visit a psychiatrist as she noticed something was wrong with the lad.
However, Harry didn't think the same way and instead chose to deal with Dexter’s violent tendencies himself. This sets the stage for the young boy to gradually transform into a formidable killer.

This way, it will only take a few seconds to knock the victims out and avoid mistakes during his preparation. Later, Dexter sneaks into a stable and manages to steal the drug in Dexter: Original Sin Episode 5.
Meanwhile, Harry struggles emotionally and professionally after the failure of the Levi Reed case. He's even informed about his demotion to the lowest rank in the homicide division, pushing Dexter to drink heavily.
