Taylor Sheridan's Landman has concluded Season 1 with an epic finale that saw Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy Norris getting beaten up by Jiminez and his men, until he is finally saved by cartel leader Gallino, played by Andy Garcia.

The cartel's retaliation was a highly anticipated plot point for the Landman Season 1 finale, and it was expected that things would not be good for Tommy. While Garcia's entry on the show as Gallino was a surprise for the fans, Tommy did suffer torture at the hands of the cartel members.

The scene was brutal and intense, and it looked like it was also draining for Thornton. The actor has revealed that he was about to pass out while shooting the torture scene.

Read on to know Thornton's experience while shooting the Landman finale torture scene.

Billy Bob Thornton "was about to pass out" in the Landman finale torture scene

If you think Tommy's torture scene in the Landman Season 1 finale was brutal, ask the actor actually at the receiving end of the onslaught, and he'd confirm!

Intense and brutal torture sequences are a part of Sheridan's universe, and Landman was no different. Season 1 saw Tommy suffer grave torture at the hand of the cartel men.

The finale shows Tommy being picked up by a cartel member, Dale, following which Jiminez and men start to brutally beat him up with a hammer, douse him with gasoline, and pound a nail in his thigh.

While the scene is brilliantly acting by Thornton, who made it feel real, it was physically and mentally draining for the actor. He revealed in an interview with Deadline:

''Yes it was right after the Andy Garcia thing, and I’m pretty beaten up. We shot that in the middle of the night and I was just completely knackered. I mean, I was about to pass out, so there wasn’t a lot of acting required.''

He added:

''And by the time I got in that truck, I mean, I think Tommy was thinking about how he was glad to be out of there, but boy are we in for something now because the big man’s here.''

Thornton's Tommy was saved by Andy Garcia's Gallino in Landman Season 1 finale

Andy Garcia's entry as Gallino in the Landman finale is more than just about the character saving Tommy from Jiminez and torture. It has changed Tommy's relationship with the cartel.

Now that Tommy has been bestowed with the position of M-Tex's director after Monty's death, things are about to get messy and stressful for him. While he managed only a portion of Monty's business before, he will now have to deal with men like Gallino.

As per Gallino and Tommy's conversation, the former showed interest in expanding to the oil business. Tommy agreed but only reluctantly, hinting that he might have made a deal with the devil.

While Gallino is introduced as a friend who saves Tommy's life, only time will tell how the partnership will be for the Landman.
