Paramount+'s Dexter: Original Sin continues to unravel the formative years of Dexter Morgan as he learns to navigate his hunger for blood and kill with his adoptive father, Harry.
Dexter: Original Sin is a prequel to the hit show Dexter, which starred Michael Hall in the titular role, who worked as a forensic analyst with the Miami Police Department by day and a vigilante killer by night.
Hall passed the touch to actor Patrick Gibson, who plays the role of young Dexter in the prequel series. Other cast include Christian Slater, Molly Brown, Christina Milian, and James Martinez.
Episode 5 saw Dexter finally getting an opportunity for a kill after he nearly escapes the crime scene after Mad-Dog's death.

Dexter: Original Sin Episode 6 is titled 'The Joy Of Killing' and will be available on Paramount+ with Showtime on January 10, 2025, at 10 pm ET/PT.
As seen in the previous episode, Dexter finally got permission from Harry to go after Reed after his father was demoted from his job. This might be the beginning of his killing spree after he also discovered a drug that could sedate any human heavily.
Considering the title of Dexter: Original Sin Episode 6, Dexter will go after Reed and 'solve' this case for his father and satisfy his hunger for blood.
Elsewhere, the show will continue to dive into Harry's back story; as we learn from the flashbacks in Episode 5, he secretly met with Laura while married to Doris, who revealed she was pregnant again. Pieces from Harry's past will continue to be revealed through flashbacks in the show's upcoming episodes.
What happened in Dexter: Original Sin Episode 5?
The episode picked right where Mad-Dog suffered an accident on the road, while Dexter chased him. This incident becomes a huge lesson for the budding killer, who manages to clean the house and hide away till Miami police leave after the accident.
Harry learns about Mad-Dog, and to punish Dexter for his carelessness, he grounds him. But Dexter makes a discovery when, in casual communication with Tanya, he gets to know that Etorphine is a strong drug that could easily sedate any person for good.
It looks like our killer finally hit the jackpot! He also gets his hands on some of the drugs after he enters a stable and lets loose a horse to distract the workers and steal some drug from the vet's office.
Harry is distraught after their case against Levi Reed is dismissed in court due to a lack of evidence and an alibi. Due to this setback, he is demoted at his job by Captain Spenser.
While Harry is intoxicated with alcohol, Dexter knocks him down and chains him in his kill room to show him his killing methods, to prove that he is ready and Harry should let him go after Reed.
While Harry is reluctant at first, he gives Dexter his permission,n and it looks like he has a new victim in Dexter: Original Sin.
