The 66-year-old Lori Isenberg used to be a well-liked person in her neighborhood. She had her job as a nonprofit organization's executive director. She assisted low-income households. But things took a bad turn in her life as she was ultimately found guilty after facing startling criminal accusations.

Lori reported that her husband, Larry Isenberg died. She mentioned that he perished on Lake Coeur d'Alene. She stated that this happened after he fell off their boat in February 2018. However, his autopsy revealed something else. It showed that he died from a deadly amount of diphenhydramine (Benadryl). This revelation prompted major questions. This was mainly regarding Lori's role in his death.

With the growing suspicion around her husband's death and her involvement in the crimes, detectives looked into Lori to find that she was connected with a large-scale embezzlement conspiracy. With this, her double life started to fall apart. It was revealed that she had the assistance of her daughters. She had embezzled more than half a million dollars from the charity organization called North Idaho Housing Coalition, she worked for.

As per the Dateline episode, Lori reportedly killed Larry to keep him from learning about the scam in an effort to hide her misdeeds. Additionally, authorities discovered evidence. It showed that she had altered Larry's will. This was done to give her children the majority of his assets.

After Larry died, Lori sought to sell their house. She had even planned to liquidate their combined assets. She also wrote emails claiming that she and Larry had been in an accident and she would pay back all the embezzled money as soon as she can sell her house.

Lori was caught for Larry's murder in 2020. She eventually pled guilty to second-degree murder. She admitted there was sufficient evidence to condemn her. She was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.

Lori's story is a heartbreaking example of deception and betrayal, as a seemingly perfect woman veiled a web of falsehoods that finally led to a devastating loss of trust and life.
