NBC’s Dateline, Season 26 Episode 30, titled The Creek, details the murder of 15-year-old Danielle Locklear by her ex-boyfriend Je’Michael Devanair Malloy in March 2014.
This two-hour episode of Dateline follows the story of Danielle Locklear, a freshman at South View High School. The teenager left her home in Hope Mills on March 11, 2014, after informing her grandfather that she was going to visit a friend who lived nearby.
However, Danielle never made it back home and was reported missing. A month after her disappearance, Danielle’s ex-boyfriend confessed to killing her after a violent fight. Her body was later discovered on the South River in Autryville.

Dateline: The Creek - Who was Danielle Locklear and what happened to her?

The Dateline episode titled The Creek portrayed the story of a bright teenager, Danielle Locklear. The freshman was a popular girl in her school.
On March 11, Danielle informed her grandfather that she was going to visit a friend who lived near their home in Hope Mills, NC. Her grandfather later reported her missing when she didn’t return home.
After Danielle was reported missing, the Hope Mills Police began to search for the teenager. The locals of Hope Mills and the FBI were also involved in the search for Danielle Locklear.
The search was conducted around Danielle’s neighborhood in Hope Mills and also her high school. However, nothing was found for a month until her ex-boyfriend came forward and confessed to murdering her.
17-year-old Je’Michael Devanair Malloy had been dating Danielle since 2013. Malloy, who was also part of the search party that volunteered to look for Danielle, told police that they went to Creek in Hope Mills where they got into a heated argument.
Malloy confessed to strangling Danielle and stuffing her sock in her mouth after their argument turned violent. He was then helped by Dominic Tayvon Lockin dumping her body in South River, in Cumberland County, Autryville by tying it with concrete blocks to weigh her body down in the river.
Danielle’s body was found on April 2, 2014, by an off-duty officer of Hope Mills.
Dateline: The Creek- Je’Michael Devanair Malloy and Dominic Tayvon Lock were sentenced to prison for their crimes

In 2016, Malloy pleaded guilty and was sentenced to prison for 25 to 31 years on account of the second-degree murder of Danielle Locklear.
Malloy’s friend, Dominic Tayvon Lock was also sentenced to a minimum of six years in prison for aiding Malloy dump Danielle’s body. He served nearly eight years of prison time, before being released.
Danielle’s mother, Rowan Fowler, confronted Malloy in his sentencing, telling him how he had caused so much pain to her. She said:
"You ripped out my soul. I can’t watch my baby get her high school diploma. I can’t watch her get married. That was my only one, I can’t have any more children, Je’Michael. You took that away from me."
