1) Dateline victim Angila was stabbed 40 times

Angila Wilder was a mother of three, living in her Minot, North Dakota home with her fiancee, Chris Jackson, when she was found murdered. On November 13, 2015, when Chris returned from work in the morning, he discovered that the back door of their house was open.

After he called 911, the police found Angila stabbed to death in her bedroom, with their 2-year-old son unharmed in the crib. It was later discovered that she was stabbed a total of 40 times.

2) Dateline victim Angila had an abusive first marriage

After Chris discovered Angila dead, he immediately told the police about her first husband, Richie Wilder. Angila met Richie in a church in Alabama, and the couple fell in love, got married, and had children.

But soon, their domestic life turned sour and problems started to arise in their utopia. Family members recalled that Angila had previously accused Richie of domestic violence and were also involved in a nasty custody battle over their children.

3) Angila suspected somebody was watching her before her murder

According to her fiance, Chris, Angila was nervous about spending the night alone with their children at their home. While dropping Chris at his Walmart job, she voiced her concerns.

On Dateline, Angila's sister, Crystal Morton, told Morrison how Richie would visit her house unannounced and threaten her:

“I got a frantic phone call from her one morning and I was like, ‘Calm down, what’s going on?’” And she says, ‘It’s Richie. I just woke up, came out of my bedroom, went into my living room and he’s sitting on my couch and looked at me and said, 'See, I told you I can get to you if I wanted to.’”

4) Police found physical evidence linking Richie to Angila's murder

Richie was now married to a kindergarten teacher, Cyndi Wilder, who provided an alibi that her husband was at their home the night Dateline's victim was murdered.

Later, the police found much physical evidence linking Richie to the murder. A drop of Angila's blood was found in Richie's vehicle, and his DNA was also found under her fingernails. In addition, Richie also had a fresh scar on his cheekbone. All this physical evidence was enough, and he was arrested for Angila's murder.

5) Cyndi's friendship with a local bartender exposed her part in Angila's murder

After Richie's arrest, Cyndi rekindled her friendship with a local bartender, which exposed her secret that she was also involved in the conspiracy of Dateline victim Angila's murder. Cyndi admitted that the couple had previously agreed upon a gun but instead used a knife at the last moment.

After Cyndi's admission, she was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for conspiring against Angila's murder. Richie was also convicted of life imprisonment for carrying out the murder.
