For decades, Dateline has been tracking down some of the most heartbreaking true-crime cases, and the episode titled Dateline: Finding Sarah Goode is no exception. Known for being a devoted single mother, Sarah was just 21 when she met a tragic fate, leaving her loved ones in pain.

This goes back to 2014 when 21-year-old mother Sarah Goode had perfectly balanced motherhood, education, and work as a medical technician. She was the youngest Goode and was raising her daughter, Jocelyn.

Unlike many families who want their kids to focus only on studies, Sarah's parents and siblings always supported her, especially during her pregnancy at 17. She lived a peaceful life and even shared a selfie on the day she was supposed to enjoy a night out.

However, little did Sarah know that it would be her last picture and she would meet her end. As revealed in the Dateline episode, Sarah didn't return home after spending time with her friends, and her unexpected disappearance led to an extensive search.

Almost five days later, Sarah Goode's dead body was recovered in a wooded area in Medford, Long Island. Shockingly, she was stabbed over forty times, which led to her demise.

Sarah Goode wasn't just a beloved daughter and sibling but also a caring mother. She never let her motherhood hinder any of her other dreams, and as explained by her sister, Elizabeth DeMuria:

"She was like a natural mother, you know. She knew what to do and how to take care of her and love her up every second, and that’s what she did."

Goode's evening began at her friend's house, where she met her other friends and had a fun night. However, when her childhood pal Jason Flores messaged Sarah to ask if she had reached home, the single mother didn't immediately reply.

At around 1:17, Flores received a message reading "yes," which was the last known communication from Goode. The next day, she was supposed to attend a family birthday party, and it was at this time the Goode family learned that Sarah had been missing.

They immediately informed the police, and everyone, including her family and friends, started searching for Sarh Goode. Since she had broken up with her boyfriend, suspicion fell on Goode’s ex-boyfriend, D.J. Watters. The two had conflicts, and Watters' mother even threatened the 21-year-old.

However, Watters and his family were eventually declared innocent in the case. As shown in the Dateline episode, Allen and Flores were the last to see Goode alive, so the police initiated DNA tests that proved none of them were involved.

A crucial breakthrough came when Goode’s friend, Allaura Cicero, noticed an unknown number appeared on Sarah Goode's cell phone on the day she went missing. Turned out it was Allen and Flores' friend Dante Taylor who repeatedly called Sarah Goode.

Eventually, Dante Taylor became the prime suspect in the murder of Sarah Goode, whose dead body was found near the woods. Prosecutors argued that the man attempted to rape Sarah after the party.

However, when she might have resisted, he responded with extreme violence and stabbed her multiple times. Taylor's defense lawyer dismissed this claim but couldn't save the man from being punished for his brutality.

As a result, Dante Taylor was declared guilty of killing the lively and fun-loving single mother, Sarah Goode. He received a life sentence, and after his conviction, the State Supreme Court Judge John Collins said:

"You may make marks on the cell block on your walls in the cage in which you will live, and they will have no significance. You may circle dates on the calendar but they will mean nothing because there is no date for you to get out. There shall be no hope for you."
